I'm afraid that I will have to disappoint you. I cannot sign this petition of yours, for it is not something I believe in. I will not elaborate on my opinion about the half-breed ban, seeing that our interests clash. That being said, even if I was against it, I would still think your effort to be in vain. When even the Minister doesn't have much sway over Headmaster Black and the Board of Governors, I doubt that a bunch of well-meaning students can make much of a difference.

Dear Miss Lestrange,I thank you for your letter of notice. I was actually quite happy to receive it. Not everyone who has refused to sign the petition has shown such courtesy as you.
I will not try to persuade you to sign the petition as I do know that not every student shares my wish for the ban to be dropped. Everyone is allowed to have their own opinion and beliefs regarding things, but I also believe that every child—whether pureblood, halfblood, muggleborn, or half-breed—has the right to an education, especially in regards to coming to better understand and learning to control their magical abilities.
Even if this petition ends in failure, at least we students who are against the ban will have made our voices heard to Headmaster Black and the Board. All I hope is that this petition will cause them to pause and consider their actions regarding the ban.
Darling Whitledge
