I am writing to invite you to a celebratory birthday dinner for Mr. Black on November twelfth. I would be most pleased if you could attend along with your wife if she is inclined. The guests should be arriving at around half past six in the evening ready for dinner to begin at half past seven. It shall be a small affair and your attendance would be greatly missed if you were to find yourself unable to attend.
