Appearance: Standing at 5'6 she is quite a tall woman and thin with it, she has excellent bone structure and a willowy frame but was sadly born about forty years too early for the fashions to really suit her figure. Nevertheless she is an attractive woman who makes the most of her assets, such as they are; she has dark hair and dark eyes that are particularly engaging and a bright smile - although she seldom uses it.
History:
1850: Born the the oldest daughter of a milliner, who has concealed her magical nature from her husband for all of their marriage, and a postman in Dunblane.
1855: Displays magic for the first time when in a sweet shop and she decided that the toffees would be much better in her pocket than behind the counter and suddenly they are. It never strikes Annette as being especially unusual that things will go her way if she just thinks hard enough about it.
1861: She receives her Hogwarts letter but her mother, determined to hide the truth from her husband still, disposes of it and prevents any and all attempts at contact from the school.
1863: Goes to work as a downstairs maid in Dunbar, but doesn’t like being in what she considers the middle of nowhere one little bit. How is a girl supposed to get anywhere when there’s nothing for miles around?! She causes so much trouble here that she is sent home and it is then her mother finally explains why she can sometimes do impossible things - it doesn’t occur to Annette that she perhaps shouldn’t do these things. Not long after she blackmails her mother into getting her a wand and letting her read through her old schoolbooks. Annette is far from a scholar but slowly but surely she begins to learn.
1866: Manages to find herself a better position as a housemaid for the magical Winchesters in Edinburgh and she approves of her surroundings much more and takes the opportunity to learn magic by example and she is happy. Not the least because of the handsome footman, Callum Greer who immediately catches her eye.
Christmas 1869: Though she does love him in her own way Annette’s determination to marry Callum are mostly for mercenary reasons. She can see his intelligence and ability and is sure that by marrying him she will be able to live an easier life, however, she is not entirely without feeling and she does want to have a happy and loving marriage with him.
1870-1872: Not at all channelling another notable Scottish wife Annette spends much of this time encouraging her husband, primarily through verbal abuse, to be more ambitious in his career. Annette doesn’t think that they should stay in service forever and instead has dreams of being their own masters. However in 1872 Callum proves to be a disappointment to her and she leaves him temporarily, intending to come back, however when she begins to correspond with him, he ignores her attention.
1873-1877: Annette tries to reconcile with her husband, however she is disappointed over and over again. Eventually, though she doesn’t give up, she realises she needs to work and finds a series of jobs as first a housemaid, then a lady’s maid to an old lady who enjoys paying her little due to her inexperience.
1878: Once she DOES have experience Annette leaves for the recently expanded Hogsmeade and by 1881 she is employed by the recently married Emma MacMillan. The two women, despite both their natures, actually do have a good relationship, primarily because both of them have a questionable grasp of cordiality.
1884: CALLUM RETURNS AND ANNETTE IS ALREADY CONVINCED IT’S FOR HER. Except it’s not because he has a pretty Tinker in tow...
