"Are you always this forward?" He asked teasingly since it would be a very short thread if he just ignored her entirely. — Tobin Cartwright in Take A Peek
Did you know? Churchgoers and worshippers had to endure a foul stench during prayers due to the amount of bodies often stored within the vaults of churches and chapels.
Nicolas sat behind his desk, smiling kindly at his students as they came into the room. They were some of the most advanced and gifted students at Hogwarts, which had a reputation for being one of the best schools in Europe. On his desk was a small red stone, sparkling where the light hit it.
The Philosopher's Stone
"Welcome, children," he said warmly. "Today we are going to talk about the Philosopher's Stone. Someone tell me another name for it -- just call out!"
Caoimhe always highly enjoyed her Alchemy class and today would be no different. Her eyes were drawn to the red stone and her fingers itched to hold it. "It also goes by lapis philosophorum, it's latin name," the brunette provided.
Ùna felt half-mesmerized by the small red stone on her professor's desk. Amazing, that centuries of immortality could come from something so small - she almost thought that it was a fake.
The question asked was what caught Ùna's attention. "It has also been called divine quintessence," she added.

Felix was already greatly enjoying Alchemy, he thought it might prove to be one of his favorite classes, right up there with Defense Against the Dark Arts
" Or vitriol " He chimed in using the short hand version of the very long and difficult ot pronance Latin word. When he'd first decided to take Alchemy he'd read everything he could on Professor Flamel who was practical a Legend in the wizarding world and as a result he'd come across some pretty interesting Alchemy information, like that the stone was some times called vitriol.
He couldn’t believe that Professor Flamel had brought the real thing at Hogwarts. It was brilliant. And also somewhat… careless, if you asked Ced. What if it got lost, or stolen?
Sitting near the back of the room, Diantha decided she wasn't going to answer the question, but rather observe to see what she could gain from this lesson. She'd always had perfect grades in Potions, but was completely unaware of anything that had to do with the actual art of Alchemy. Instead, she kept her eyes glued on the beautiful, sparkling, red stone that sat on his desk, thinking about what it would be like to live as long as she wanted. Then, the auburn-haired Gryffindor raised her hand, a question sitting in the back of her mind.
"Very good, all of you!" Colle said warmly. "Five points each -- that makes ten for Ravenclaw, and ten for Hufflepuff!"
He picked up his Stone then, holding it up to the light so that everyone could see it. "This is the Philosopher's Stone. Who can tell me what it produces?"
Caoimhe was quite pleased with her success. Her eyes stayed on that stone, pondering its wonders as Miss McKinnon answered the question satisfactorily enough that she needn't add anything more.
"Very good, Miss McKinnon -- five more points to Hufflepuff! Now, we're going to try some theory today! I want you to divide into groups of two to four, and discuss what you think might be the process of making the Philosopher's Stone. Don't worry, you won't be graded on accuracy! Go on, find your groups!"
Ùna smiled brightly at Mr. Humphrey. "All right!" she said, scooting her desk closer to his so that they could better speak to each other, "What do you think it could involve? I'm certain that the magical merging of substances is involved - but which substances?"
Group work? Caoimhe supposed that would be all right. Deciding to approach Mr. Felix Parkinson since she was familiar with him, considering they were both housemate, yearmate and of the same social circles of sorts, she gave a slight smile. "Hello, Mister Parkinson, mind being in a group with me? And perhaps Miss Montacute?" She asked and looking towards her friend, Diantha, to sort of indicate with a look that she was free to join as well.
"All right, it's time to go," Colle announced. "All of you, I want at least one hundred words about how you think the Philosopher's Stone might be created! I'll see you all next time, enfants chéris!"
He watched, beaming, as the children filed out of the classroom. This had been a wonderful idea. He adored children so!
