My dear Meri,

I was so thrilled for you when I heard you had been promoted but hardly surprised. You were always terribly clever. What is wandmaking like? Merlin forbid I ever break my wand, I'll know exactly where to come for a replacement. I wouldn't dream of asking anybody else! 

It feels like such a long time since we were last together, but then times passes so slowly when you're doing nothing but paying calls and attending balls. We must find the time to have tea soon. I'm sure you have so much to tell me!

Elaine!

I was so happy to receive your letter!  I really has been too long.  You have been on my list of people to visit for ages but time seems to be getting away with me well, ever since I left school now that I think about it.  

Who told you I was promoted?  Not that it's a secret secret but I really haven't been telling anyone.  I haven't told my parents  I've been waiting for the right time and way to tell my parents.  My father's been set on seeing me properly married since I was little and I don't expect he'll think something like this will help things along.  

All that aside I'd be thrilled if one of my wands picked you.  Mr. Ollivander says I'll probably be selling my own come August.  I can't stop wondering who will get the first one.  I finally told Marianne and Elsie a little while back.  Its all very exciting and I couldn't stand keeping it completely to myself anymore.  

We really should get together soon even if it's just for tea.  Mr. Ollivander will just have to do with out me for an afternoon.

P.s. If you could keep my little promotion to yourself I'd be so grateful.  I can't imagine what I would do if word got around to my parents before I'm able to find a way to tell them.
