Sirius was immensely cranky about all of this, and had made no show of pretending otherwise. He had tried very hard to be very good so that his mother would not leave, but she was leaving anyways and so there was no reason to be good anymore. His governess seemed to be under the impression that she was dealing with someone fully intent on wreaking horror, which was not far off from the truth.

So, when his mother called for him, he snapped, "What?" and turned to her with the most sullen expression he could muster.
