ON MEETING MISTER RODERICK ELKINS
Upon entering the lift at the Ministry today, I made the acquaintance of a very nice older gentleman by the name of Roderick Elkins. It should be noted he is the Head of the Department of the Improper Use of Magic Office, but I found his company suitable beyond simply that of a political acquaintance.
I do not wish to make a fool of myself by listing his many qualities- though they are many, for the few minutes we spent in transit- and yet I find he has not left my mind, and my urgency to pass a message to the Ambassador had little to do with any hope of better accommodations during my visit here in Hogsmeade.
He stated he is not married, and yet he is hardly a young man. Is it that he has experienced the same sad loss as I? It is a girlish fancy to consider something so romantic. This far away from Papa et Maman has left me perhaps a little lonely.
The snow reminds me of Jaspar, that Winter he left me at the train station, the last time I glimpsed his face.
