Is The Door Broken?

"Castor and Leda!" Rommy observed. "Your parents must be fond of mythology!" Or Orphan Black. Rommy and her siblings had much less exciting names. Well, Rosamund, Eldin and Vesta were more exciting than John and Mary, but they were still not as exciting as greek mythology ones. And Mr. Allaway's parents had so cleverly picked them!

"Is she excited to go to Hogwarts?" Rommy asked, not really realizing that not everyone came from all wizarding backgrounds.

“My father is a teacher himself,” Castor explained, “and has a wide range of interests. He’s always enjoyed reading old mythology of any sort as well as watching Orphan Black, his favorite show 5ever.”

It was not often that the Gryffindor had cause to talk about his family at school, and it was only at the next question that he remembered why.

“I-I come from a muggle family,” he offered with a shrug, feeling a bit embarrassed though there was no genuine need to be. Miss Bones was hardly a blood purist—like those who had teased him so much in his first year—but she was from two respected, pure families.

This was intriguing. Rommy would be ashamed to admit it, but she didn't think that muggles enjoyed mythology. She knew that it was mostly muggles that created it, but it was also muggles that lived eons ago. And in different countries, most of the time. The muggle British people of their time were so conservative, so against everything magical. Or, at least, most of them. It'd be unfair to put the Allaways in the same sack as them.

"Oh," Rommy said at first but then brightened up. "Well, you'll hardly be the first muggle family to produce two wizards!" It was rare enough to have one magical offspring, but Rommy would feel bad to at least not hope that Mr. Allaway's sister was a witch.

"Well," she then said, realizing that they were still talking outside a bathroom of all places. "I should probably let you wash yourself, now! We both hardly have all day!"

It had never occurred to him before that Leda might turn out to be a witch after all. Castor was not wholly certain how he felt about the notion, but that was something to ponder another time. Politely, he bid farewell to Miss Bones, quietly hoping he would see her again soon (though under less awkward circumstances, he hoped).
