Evelyn could hear Miss Borgin's remark about Ruby knowing best and her fingers curled reflexively in, making a fist, it was something she did whenever little bursts of anger sprang from her, it was a way of controlling and displacing the feeling. The next statement to come out of the girls mouth was more outlandish, it even made Evelyn scoff out loud, which in turn highlighted her face in crimson. The idiocy of some people. Lycanthropy was something that had been around for ages and the ability to 'control' themselves had never materialized before, and even if they could they can only transform during a full moon and the logistics of planning such a thing, and this is info that the ministry would have, not to mention the people who went on the registry...Evelyn's mind sped as it was want to do and she inhaled through her nose to calm herself down.

Mozelle took a deep breath. "Sir," she said, straightening herself and rising partially from her seat, "I think this subject is bringing about the immaturity in many of my classmates. I do not question you or the curriculum, but the wisdom of my classmates to keep their personal opinions to themselves. This is a classroom, not a soap box." She didn't want to see anyone start a fight, physical or magical. This might be Defense Against the Dark Arts, but the tension in the air was not something Mozelle liked.

October wondered how long Ruby Uquart would last during class. The hufflepuff looked like she was about to cry and walk out any minute.

I think the purpose of this class is to clear misunderstandings about werewolves, Miss Rios.” She said with a rather haughty tone . “And there isn’t anything wrong with stating opinions either especially when it isn’t offending anyone. Right Professor?” Miss Rios was the immature one if she thought the classroom was turning into a soap opera just because one of them was uncomfortable on the subject.

Nikolai held up his hand in a ‘stop’ manner, waiting for silence before addressing his class once more.

“Quiet down,” the professor directed unnecessarily. “Miss Rios, you say that you do not question me but do just that in suggesting as you do. Five points from Hufflepuff for the discourtesy—however unintended it might have been. As to the rest of you, it is quite plain indeed that while many of you have a rudimentary understanding of the concept of a werewolf, there is a great deal of misinformation being spread about in light of recent events.”

As he spoke, he allowed his hand to drop as he moved to the blackboard and began inscribing what came next:

“Copy. A werewolf is an individual infected with lycanthropy. This infection is spread via blood contact with the scratch or bite of the transformed beast, and causes the victim to transform into an oversized, wolf-like canine on the night of the full moon, as well as the nights proceeding and following.”

Setting aside the chalk, Nikolai addressed the class directly once more—“Let us bring some fact into our discussions once more. How does one identify a werewolf as opposed to a regular wolf, beyond the region in which they may frequent?”

Flora honestly knew very little of werewolves, but there were some things she was aware of, specifically in regards to defining them.

"They're much larger than normal wolves. Massive," she offered quietly. She didn't want to offer a controversial answer, as the idea of the call losing their tempers again frightened her a little.

Flora looks identical to her sister Fauna and may be confused for her!

Tripper too would offer his answer.

"Werewolves can't be killed with a silver bullet for whatever reason, but I assume normal wolves could be killed with any type of bullet. Not that - er - you'd just want to take a shot to figure it out. That - uh - might anger it," he answered rather sheepishly.

Well, at least he tried ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Smug that she had avoided being chastised - and Miss Rois had lost points for her house - Beatrix sat attentively, back rigidly straight, looking to all the world the picture of the perfect student as she raised her hand. "They're very dangerous to humans compared to normal wolves," she said with a pointed stress.

"Not that I'd want to get near a real wolf either," she said in a hushed, worried tone. She didn't like animals that were as big as her, and actual wolves — let alone werewolves — would likely be able to chew her up in less than three bites! "I think it's eyes are said to look more human than animal-like. Not that you'd notice in the middle of a dark forest during the night."

Seneca was really enjoying herself. Not because she cared about werewolves - no, that subject bored her immensely compared to the other subjects covered by the class, like curses. She was enjoying herself because there was already so much drama. She had thought that Miss Urquart would last longer before she started getting all defensive about werewolves. She was even weaker than Seneca thought. As for the rest... Miss Borgin's father probably thought that there was such a thing as 'lizard people'.

She smirked when Miss Rios acted like some kind of champion against dramatics. She was even more amused when Professor Sleptov reprimanded her.

She was less amused when they were called to copy down something about werewolves.

She copied the words down lazily, as the others spoke around her. They all souned wrong and slightly moronic. Seneca wished she knew more about the subject so she could answer the question herself.

Joanna copied the information down as quickly and smoothly as she could, keeping her eyes on her paper. It wasn't her place to really step up and try and be a peacemaker. She had enough issues on her mind with the coming years and her future after school.

Shaking her head a little as she finished copying the notes, Joanna sat straight again. She didn't have anything to say that hadn't already been said, after all..

“Five points each,” Nikolai granted, “to Miss Halliday and Miss Frida Lestrange for their accurate, helpful responses.”

On the word ‘helpful’, he eyed Miss Borgin meaningfully; as to the Gryffindor, well, Nik wasn’t entirely certain what the lad was on about. Plainly, it was time to make use of the shelves of books that lined the room.

“I had hoped, however, to see a bit more knowledge from you all, and so I think it is in your best interests if you do some research, rather than rely upon idle gossip. We will pair up—Miss Borgin and Miss Fudge, Miss Tilney and Mr. Jameson, Miss Lynch and Miss Seneca Lestrange, Miss Halliday and Miss Triggs…”

He continued placing the students into pairs until, at last, there was no one left to match.

“I shall come around to quiz you whilst you work,” he cautioned the pupils, “so be sure you don’t waste any time!”

Seneca would really much rather study advanced curses than werewolves. She didn't like werewolves - couldn't they just kill every werewolf there was so they ceased to be a problem and she wouldn't have to deal with them? Oh, Sen knew that was wishful thinking. Still. If only.

She relocated so she and Miss October Lynch could work together. Seneca really didn't get why they were paired. Couldn't each of them read their book on their own?

Defiantly remaining in her seat Beatrix waited expectantly, arms crossed and scowling in anticipation of her new partner. She refused to be the one to move first - Miss Fudge was no better than she was, even if her father did own a resort rather than shop in Knockturn Alley. At least her father wasn't dead, even if her mother would have it otherwise.

Risking a glance over her shoulder, patience never having been her greatest skill, she locked eyes with the other girl and glared.
