August nodded. "Me neither," he agreed. It wasn't that he had anything against ships, but, well - he'd rather not be on a dance floor with a cane in the middle of the damn ocean, either.

“Imagine if the ship sunk - we’d probably both die,” Clemmy commented before she had a realization. “Oh, do forgive me, I didn't mean to insult your swimming skills! I’m sure you’re a great swimmer!”

August tapped his cane against the side of his shoe. "Thank you for your faith in my - aquatic skills," he said in a largely impassive tone, "Though I'm afraid that it may be misplaced - my swimming skills are not, I'm afraid, especially effective."

A small smile of relief spread across Clemmy’s face. “It’s a good thing we can conjure boats, I suppose!” Not that conjuring a boat would be that easy when you were trying not to drown in the middle of the ocean. But, in theory, their magic could compensate for their terrible swimming skills.

"It really is," August said with a smile, though he wasn't actually sure how one would even go about conjuring a boat. Well. At least he could probably manage a life preserver.

The dance finally actually started, and when it was over August bid Miss Yaxley a cheerful goodbye.
