Charmed to keep people out. Also he's on Volume III IV. Mostly a log of Harry's failed experiments.

    January 27, 1885

    Today's ingredients:

    Knotgrass (1 cup-ish)
2 billywig stingers. Attempted to cut them. Cut finger instead.
Something green and vaguely slimy I found on the underside of a desk in Charms. Books didn't know what it was either.
    Dried out mistletoe berries (3)

Tried to stir it. It slopped out and burned a whole in Volume II. Reparo didn't seem to work. Tried not stirring it at all. It turned an angry, poisonous green color and started emitting a foul odor like eggs that had gone off and then been placed next to a dead body.

    March 13, 1885

    Today's ingredients:

    Fluff from 4 dandelions
1 handful of grass from outside
    Leftover pumpkin juice from breakfast
A quill shed by someone's barn owl (it landed in my juice, it's fair game)

    Did absolutely nothing.

    April 10, 1885

    Today's ingredients:

    1/2 tsp. garlic, minced
    2 c. asphodel leaves, whole
    1 sophorous bean, chopped
    A bit of chocolate

Mostly made myself sick, but not really anything else.

    April 13

    Today's Ingredients:

    1 cup knotgrass
Chewing gum scraped off underside of a desk in Charms
    Something squishy and blue
    1 maple leaf, sans stem

It bubbled a bit. And then it stopped. Couldn't get it to do anything after that. It was nice mint green color, though!

    May 7

    Today's Ingredients:

    1 1/3 c. chopped asphodel leaves
    2 tsp. flobberworm mucus
    1 lemon zest
    2 c. willow bark

Very pleasant shade of light blue. Didn't seem to have much an effect until I realized I now have a matching blue patch on my chest.

    May 11

    Today's Ingredients:

    1 1/3 c. diced asphodel leaves
    2 tsp. flobberworm mucus (strained)
    1 lemon zest
    2 1/4 c. willow bark

Turned grey and rather foul smelling. Didn't want to even try it. Maybe less of ingredients instead of more?

Have attempted May 7's potion 3 different ways with no better results. Have retried original potion and cannot reproduce it.

    Seriously, I give up.

    Today's Ingredients:

    1 tsp. crushed cherry pits
    2 asphodel leaves, shredded
Don't know how to measure but a bunch of weeds from the lake
    2 dried frog eggs

Turned salmon pink and smelled an awful lot like lake water. Started bubbling over even with flames extinguished so had to get rid of it.

Note to self: If going to use mold in future potions, don't store it in book bag.

Someone left a copy of Witch Weekly in the common room. It was open to a sleep tonic recipe. Tried it out. Had to be forcibly awakened this morning.

    Today's Ingredients:

    1 bat spleen
3 1/4 tbsp. Essence of Belladonna
    2 black beetle eyes
3 tsp tbsp. crushed snake fangs

After about two minutes, potion had the consistency of half-dried cement. Nearly lost my wand in it.

Reminder to self not to try any concoction that smells like a rotted out pumpkin. Pretty certain that last time was chronicled in Volume 2.

Finished Potions exam in time to discover that the bottom of my cauldron has basically been worn down as far as it'll go without breaking. Potioneering: really mostly for those who can afford a new cauldron.

Can't make potions without potentially breaking my cauldron and the year's almost out anyway, so I have been trying to copy down potions from books in the library so that I can study them over the summer. Will have to wait to try them until the fall, though.
