Charming is a Victorian Era Harry Potter roleplay set primarily in the village of Hogsmeade, Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, and the non-canon village of Irvingly. Characters of all classes, both magical and muggle — and even non-human! — are welcome.

My Lady,
I wish I had more time with which to write, but for reasons that will shortly become clear, I have very little time left till I depart. I met with Baron Wimbourne last night- you know he is a friend of mine- and he suggested a rather impromptu trip abroad to clear our heads following the shooting season and the recalling of parliament. Maintaining the family’s image in muggle society is rather tiring, and so I agreed to the idea. I assure you, had the season been in force and there had been any chance of even one dance with you, I would not have consented so readily.
We depart from Cardiff- where I write from- in less than an hour, having secured ourselves a last minute suite on The Blue Unicorn, bound for French Morocco. We intend to stay there for a little over a week before finding another boat to sail onwards. My owl should be able to find me no matter where I end up.

The markets here are quite something, though I confess I have been too long from countries as hot as this, so we are forced to spend much of our time indoors where charms at least can keep us cooler. Their tea also leaves something to be desired, though the servants here have the most novel way of pouring it- they place the cups upon the floor and pour the tea from the pot, standing and raising it above their heads! I can’t imagine many British hostesses would approve of such a practice over their expensive doulton china.

I am not surprised to hear that it's not that great in Marroco. Compared to us, those people are so savage! Indeed, men to have harems, though by their very nature you don’t get to see them. I hardly agree with the practice- it all seems rather barbaric. But I suppose that to them, we must seem bizarre also!
We intend to sail out to the New World tomorrow- we’ll spend a day in port in America, but I believe the aim is for us to head southwards after to the Windward Island Colonies- St. Lucia, or Grenada.

I am also sending you a present. I had some photographs taken today (for my father's Christmas present), and I had some spare ones.
I am ashamed to admit that I had to open a map, for the names of these destinations meant nothing to me. I can't imagine sailing all the way to there! I do hope there's proper food and hygiene on your ship! At least I know you will be alright if pirates attack you.

All I can say to that is to never underestimate the sheer variety that street markets can offer- I thought you might appreciate it more than a trombone-playing monkey, which the vendor was also rather keen to sell. Thank you for your gift- once I have found a frame worthy of you I shall frame it, but until then I take it with me wherever I go.
We have arrived safe and sound in America, though we sail back out to the islands tomorrow. I confess I probably should struggle to place myself on a map also, but for now the boat is very luxurious and the captain competent, so I shan’t worry!

There certainly have been plenty of festivals where I am- or perhaps just street parties, though what they’re in aid of, I couldn’t tell you! The good weather certainly does seem to make the people more upbeat, but it is so beautiful here I doubt they could manage to be sad even if it rained like it did in Scotland!
