    lakeside at sunset

Minnie wasn't one to complain that often, she enjoyed becoming a better version of herself but she couldn't help but feel so out of place. She sat on a blanket near the shore of the lake, feeling silly in her puffy dress with her corset and her petticoat and such things. Her hair was up in a rather odd way, it was Dumbledore's idea. Something about blending in better. It had just made her sad, depressed, and rather homesick. It was always her mother that did her hair if it was ever done. She smiled sadly at the thought as a small tear rolled down her face and onto her ridiculous dress. That one tear seemed to break the dam as more tears flooded quietly from her face. She sniffled, clinging onto her legs as she buried her face between her knees.

"I wish I never had that stupid time turner...it needs to burn in bloody hell the wretched thing..." She mumbled to herself through her tears. Frustrated she grabbed the nearest rock and flung it into the lake, watching it splash. She grabbed another, also flinging it in followed by many more till her arm got sore. She stopped afterwards, getting her rage out on the water. She promptly stood up and grabbed the blanket that kept her dress away from the dirt and started on her trek up the steep hill back to the school which seemed so daunting in her outfit. She looked into the horizon and noticed the sun was setting. Panic set in, students weren't allowed on the grounds at night. She promptly quicken her pace, but as she did her shoe got caught in the damp ground and she tripped and fell. She started tumbling down the hill, in her panic she tried to look for her wand but seemed it have fallen off of her when she tripped. She now tried to grab onto anything but before she could she rolled head first into a tree.

    And blacked out.

OOC: Quite an entrance! ;D Hope you don't mind Declan. ^^

    IC:
The crisp November air had convinced him to spend more time outside, just for a few more moments, before he had to return to the castle. The outdoors called to him - he ought to have been out messing around and getting covered in filth rather than being cooped up all day studying books and spells and pointless other things. Children were meant to be outside. It was good for them, according to Declan's mother. His first day at Hogwarts had been the first day in his life where he'd actually had a clean face and hands. Granted, there was still a thick line of black underneath his finger nails, but it was a rather dramatic change from the boy who had run wild in the streets since he learned to walk.

Earlier that day they'd learned about the history of Hogwarts. The fact that there were merpeople and a great giant sea-creature in the Black lake somewhere had stirred up his curiosity. He decided to swing by the body of water in hope of catching a glimpse of one. How excited his sisters would be to hear of mermaids! They would want to come to Hogwarts then, and he would have some company.

Out of the corner of his eye, he saw an older girl making her way back up the hill. He figured she'd probably tell on him and get him in trouble if he stayed outside. With a final wistful glance toward the lake, he began to trudge up the hill. In the next moment, the girl tripped, fell, and rolled down the hill. Declan was rather amused until her rolling was stopped by a tree. Shock and adrenaline filled him as he immediately ran as fast as he could toward her, "Hey, hey, are y'alright?!"

For what seemed like hours to her, Minnie finally woke from her tumbled slumber. She opened her eyes trying to focus, though everything was spinning. She looked around and saw a little first year had came to her rescue. A half smile came upon her face till she looked at his clothes, then hers and her smile immediately faded. "It wasn't just an awful dream then..." She started to stand up slowly, clinging to the tree for balance. "Who...are you...?" She mumbled through her scattered thoughts to the boy. There was triple of him and dozens of everything else. "My..wand..." She muttered looking around the spot where she fell. Not seeing any of it she looked at where she shoe was, lodged in the hill. There was it was, stuck in the mud.

Instinctively reaching for her wand in the distance, she stood for a second almost stable before she fell to her knees again. "My head...." She reached up to her head and held on to it. It was pounding. She looked at the boy who probably thought she was insane or something. She looked at the sky realizing it was darker from what she remembered. "You shouldn't be here, you'll...you'll get in trouble. I don't wan..." She drifted off in her words sounding almost drunken. "Ca..Can..you get me my wand...it's over there by my sh..shoe." She pointed weakly at her shoe. If she had her wand she could...somewhat manage to get out this mess.

As he hovered worriedly over her, he began to wonder if he might be able to levitate her to the Hospital Wing. He'd learned Wingardium Leviosa just the other day. Sure, he'd dropped the feather a few times.. but surely the spell would work for him now that it was important? Just as he began to reach for his wand, she stirred. Relief flooded through him as he bent down to better understanding her mumbling. She seemed confused. He hovered worriedly around her as she pulled herself up with the tree that had caused all the trouble. "I'm Declan- I'm gonna help ya," He explained slowly, quite concerned for her well-being.

At the mention of her wand, his grey-green eyes traveled all over the ground in search of it. He would get it for her. Clearly, she wasn't able to walk very well. It was then that he saw it near her shoe. However before he could reach to pick it up, she fell to her knees again. "I think ya should go ta the Hospital Wing, Miss," He said as he bent forward and plucked her wand out of the mud. The eleven year old wiped it on his already dirty robes before he handed it to her, "Ya don't seem right ta me." He held out his arm steadily, ready to assist her in walking to the Hospital Wing. He didn't tell her that he had been considering levitating her there. For some reason, the boy didn't think that she would be very fond of the idea... even with a head injury.

Minnie smiled half heartedly at the boy's concern. His intentions were pure and sweet, unlike his house which she noticed from the green. "Thank y...you." She mumbled weakly as she gathered her strength to cast a messenger spell. She'd learned them recently, Dumbledore thought they would be helpful in order to sending messages to each other in this strange time. Now as ever she was ever so glad to know it. She gathered all her strength and pointed her wand towards the castle, and sent her patronus towards the general direction of the Hospital Wing to send for help. White misty smoke flew out of her wand and took a form a cat who quickly ran in her desired direction.

She immediately collapsed feeling much more weakened than she was before. She laid in the grass feeling so tired. She looked over at Declan and smiled. "I..sent for help. They should be coming soon. You can go if you like..." Minnie took a deep breath and closed her eyes hoping the pounding in her head would just stop. She winced slightly with the rhythm of the pounding. She looked over at the boy again. "Thank you again..." She mumbled quietly as she blacked out once again.

    ((Oh poor Minnie. xD))

OOC: Too bad we don't have a nurse character yet! x3 We'll just PP her for now?

    IC:
The girl smiled. Declan thought she was rather pretty, though he wouldn't ever admit it. He was not quite old enough to have a true interest in girls and still thought them to have cooties and germs. He attempted to disguise his curiosity when a silver wisp danced out of the end of her wand and took the shape of a cat. It sprinted with its graceful cat-like abilities toward the Hospital Wing. He figured it was a message spell of some type, since she'd told him that she'd sent for help. Could he possibly do a spell like that? Then he wouldn't need an owl to send letters to his mother - he could simply send a spell! The boy fully meant to ask her, however before he could she had passed out again.

Declan muttered a curse under his breath as he hovered worriedly over her. He couldn't do anything to help her, but he could at least stay with her until the adults came. Intently, his grey-green gaze flicked to the direction of the Hospital Wing. They had to be on their way - what was taking them so long? Then finally, the white bonnet of the nurse could be seen hurrying her way toward them. Declan relaxed and leaned back on his heels as he whispered, "Here she is - she's come ta help ya."

Minnie opened one of her eyes in a haze, seeing a blur of white. Feeling relieved it was the help she had sent for. She opened both of her eyes once more and saw the boy once again. He was still there watching over her. It touched Minnie, she thought that everyone at this Hogwarts thought she was improper and perhaps freaky due to her intellect of things a lady shouldn't worry her pretty little head about. It was hogswash in her opinion, and she hated being told what she can't and cannot do just because she is a woman. Her wand fell from her finger tips as the nurse carried her off. She was too dizzy to notice that she was moving, let alone the fact that she had dropped her wand.

The nurse immediately rushed Minnie to the Hospital Wing and laid her in an empty bed. She quickly dressed her in a hospital garment after washing the mud off of her. Minnie was in an utter daze at this point her consciences going in and out ever couple minutes. Dumbledore came for a moment, she wanted to speak with him but the world faded away from her once more. In her daze she heard the nurse say, serious concussion. After about ten minutes Minnie regain control of her chnscienceness and woke up. Her head no longer felt like it was in agony, just numb. She assumed it was some sort of spell. She looked around the room, though she tried not to move her head. She felt something missing...her wand. "Oh shoot, I dropped my wand..." She muttered sadly to herself.

Declan hovered around as the nurse attended to the girl. Once his presence was noticed however, the nurse had kindly told him that she could take it from there and sent him to the castle. It was dark out after all, he wasn't supposed to be out there. He hoped he wouldn't get into too much trouble for it. With his hands shoved in his pockets he trudged back to the castle. However, he stopped once he stepped inside. The eleven year old poked his head out the door and watched as the nurse carried her away toward the Hospital Wing. Deciding that she might need a visitor, Declan ran to the Hospital Wing. He didn't know any of the shortcuts inside the castle, so it took him a good deal longer than he'd thought that it would.

It was nearly curfew by the time he neared the great double doors to the Hospital Wing. He'd better make the visit quick or else he'd really be in trouble. A hard click under his foot caught his attention - he'd stepped on something. A wand. Declan picked it up and recognized it as the girl's. What was it with her and dropping her wand? She must have had very slippery hands. Did girls hands sweat? He turned it over in his own dirty hands. Oh no, was that a- no, it couldn't be. He couldn't have put a crack in her wand. It was probably just a trick of the light. The boy shoved it in his pocket as he entered the double doors. The nurse gave him a reprimanding look but allowed him to go to the hospital bed.

Declan was glad to see that she was awake again. He offered her a grin as he brought the wand out of his pocket, "I think you're missin' somethin'." He hoped she wouldn't notice the crack - maybe it really was just the way the shadows had fallen on it.

Minnie immediately smirked when she saw the boy at her bedside. "You really shouldn't be here, you'll get in trouble." She paused for a second then smiled at him, "But you're rather good at getting in trouble though aren't you?" She giggled as he pulled out her wand. A wave of relief came over her, that her wand was back. She picked it up out of his hands and kissed it gratefully. It was gift from her father. She had received for her 10th birthday. Her initials were carved on the bottom. She recalled him saying, "I picked the very dragon that it's heartstrings came from. She was strong and cunning Welsh Green." A fond memory she held dear. "Thank you...Declan wasn't it?" She hoped she had gotten his name right. It was a rather befuddling time.

"You should really be getting back to your common room, especially since it's in the dungeon." It was a hard thought to think that this sweet boy was a Slytherin. She rather hated the bunch, though he seemed so genuine. She gently reached out to touch his shoulder, "Oh..Declan?...If you ever need anything, anything at all. I owe you a great debt of gratitude for tonight. Goodnight." She attempted to turn him towards the door and bid him farewell to usher him on his way. She got out her wand and pointed at his feet, and whispered "Propero Momentum" to help accelerate his walking.

OOC: Last post for me. Maybe one more from you to wrap up the end? :]

Declan offered a shy shrug at her gentle reminder. He really ought to have been in his common room by now. "A bit," He said with a small laugh of his own. What was it with people and being able to tell that he was good at getting into trouble? Vesta had picked right up on it as well. Maybe it was a girl thing. He didn't think his mother and sisters counted since his mother had known him from birth and his younger sisters had known him since they were born. They were quite the trouble makers themselves anyhow.

The boy was surprised that she remembered his name. He tried not to appear too pleased when he replied, "Yeah, Declan Wood. What's yours? Ya never said." Because whether he liked it or not, the boy might just have been developing his first crush on her. When she touched his shoulder, a bright red brush spread across his boyish cheeks and his ears burned hot. Gruffly, he brushed her hand away and said, "Uh yeah. Thanks." Embarrassed, he was quite ready to be on his way. It seemed he wasn't going fast enough. As soon as he had his back turned to her, something pushed him along so that his steps moved him twice the distance that they normally would have. He figured she'd had something to do with it, but he was too distracted by his fellow classmates once he had reached the common room to really think any more about it.

Once he had changed and clambered into bed, he began to think some more of perhaps taking her up on her offer. He wanted to know how to send the message cat. The eleven year old fell into dreams of ghost cats, falling wands and pretty fainting girls only a few moments later.
