    Let's Talk About Sex Baby

Ever since she'd caught her father and Mrs. Rosaline Bennett in a compromising position, something had awoken in Eva. In reality, that something had always been awake. It was the rush she felt whenever she interacted with Freddie. The warm sensation that would overcome her whenever she would think about her fiance at night before she went to bed.

It was desire, carnal desire. She wanted to do with Freddie what she had seen her father and Mrs. Bennett do. She had fantasized about it. She'd reimagined the desk scene, except she and Freddie were the main leads.

They had had an opportunity to couple but it was unfortunately interrupted by a shoe. Neither Eva, nor Freddie initiated such a thing again. For one, they didn't get the type of alone time that would permit them to do so. Secondly, when Eva wasn't overcome by her hormones, she was able to think logically about it. What if she and Freddie did have sex and he made her pregnant? Their wedding wasn't until December. They wouldn't be able to pass it off as an early birth.

Which brought her question. How could Mrs. Bennett lay with her father time and again and not catch herself with child? Eva didn't think that the Desk Incident had been a one time thing and that such occurrences hadn't followed. Mrs. Bennett was obviously not barren, seeing that she had a son. Or maybe she had become barren after having him. That was a possibility and there was a high chance that asking her how she managed not to get pregnant would be insensitive, but still Eva was curious.

She made sure to approach her sort of stepmother when her father wasn't at home. She didn't want for her father to overheard anything, get any ideas and then go after Freddie with a riffle. To ensure that Rosaline wouldn't assume that she was asking for herself, Eva decided to play it off as judgemental, even if she'd rather taken to the blonde after they'd nerly died at the World Market.

"I heard that Mr. Wealthington found out his latest child was a bastard," Eva commented in a well trained 'judgemental bitch' tone. "How careless of Mrs. Wealthington, don't you think? You wouldn't make such a mistake I bet."

Rosaline blinked at Eva's words. She looked up from her book and eyed Nikolai's daughter with the sort of really? look that she usually reserved for her actual students.

Eva Sleptova knew, of course, about Rosaline sleeping with her father. She had walked in on it; she would have to be very young or very stupid to be deluded about it. But they did not speak of the incident.

Yet here Eva was, asking Rose about carelessness.

    Rosaline cleared her throat.

Wealthington sounded like a fake last name, anyways. Wealthington.

"How does he know?" Rose asked.

    That was a good question.

Eva hadn't thought this through in her carefully fabricated story. Pulling a plot point from one of the sensationalist novels she liked to read, Eva said: "The baby doesn't look like him. It looks... Like it's from another country." She made a vague circular motion in front of her face.

"Anyway," Eva continued. "I bet Mrs. Wealthington could have prevented the birth if she was smarter - like you." With innocently raised eyebrows, she took a sip from her tea.

Rose raised a singular eyebrow at Eva. Her sort-of-kind-of stepdaughter was not usually this direct, for one thing, and for another, she really was not sure she believed that anyone named Wealthington existed.

"Probably," she said, "Perhaps she didn't think things through."

Now they were getting to something.

"Exactly," Eva commented. "I'm sure she could have taken some kind of potion to prevent it - right?" She turned to look at Mrs. Bennett with eyes full of expectation.

"Oh, I wouldn't recommend those," Rose said with a faint frown. Now that Eva was asking her actual questions, she was much more comfortable - even if they were about sex. "They're supposed to have awful side effects."

"Oh?" Eva asked. She had heard such a thing. Horrible side effects had been a plot point in many novels, too. Usually, they were used as a way to punish the morally wrong women who got themselves in the position to need an abortion.

"What would you recommend then? Hypothetically."

"Hypothetically," Rose echoed. She eyed Eva quizzically. If she gave Nik's daughter advice on having sex that was awkward - things were equally awkward if she gave Nik's daughter no advice and she ended up pregnant. That was probably worse, actually.

"There are things that can be done during the act," Rose said.
