Lugus Cardew v. Kenton Gallivan

• With Sleptov away doing whatever it was Russians did, Hamish had been happy to volunteer to take his place moderating the student duels. It was not likely, otherwise, that he would see any of his students during the summer months, and he did enjoy the disease they displayed at seeing a professor out of school! The first match he was to be moderating, though, were not students he recognized—first years (for a bit longer, at least), he imagined.
  
  The professor had to explain the rules carefully before proceedings could begin. “Mr. Cardew, is it? You’ll be going first, lad.”

  

[Lugus Cardew]

Lugus was excited about the duels. He wished that he had known about this sooner, then he would have been in one sooner. Even if it was a duel on magic. Lugus believed he would be much better in a fist-fight, but he could not do that right now. He was supposed to learn how to be a gentleman and how to live in this society, and apparently magical duels was a part of it.

He was happy that he got against Kenton, and not someone he did not knew at all. At least Kenton would (hopefully) not be too angry if Lugus turned out to be good at this. He bowed and smiled to Kenton, before he sent a Petrificus Totalus towards his dorm-mate

Kenton didn't remember Lugus participating in a duel before, so he was confident that he would win. Then, he could write Castor about his victory and his cousin would be very, very proud. He quickly casted a shield charm, hoping that it would succesfully deflect Lugus' spell.

The shield charm easily repelled the attempted stun. "Round one to Mr. Gallivan! He may begin the next."

[Kenton Gallivan]

Ha! He had won the first round! The Gryffindor was confident that he'd win the second round as well. Confidently, he casted 'Petrificus Totalus' on Cardew.

  

[Lugus Cardew]

Lugus was just taking this as a way to try out what few spells he already had learned, he knew that it was limited, but it was fun at the same time, and he took it with a smile. This was not the worst that could happen.

He quickly attempted to make a shield, in order to try and win himself the next point.

The young lad's attempt at a shield failed entirely, and Hamish had to take a moment to put the boy to rights before he could announce the results. "Congratulations, Mr. Gallivan; you have won the duel!"
