Charity was running errands for her employers and soon found herself on High Street. She was almost done her tasks and would soon be able to head back to the Grey residence. They were kind enough people and they never overworked the staff. Charity hoped she would be able to work her way up to being one of the head staff. Now, that would surely be something. For now, she was just a servant, doing the odd jobs that the maids and other staff had no time for. Such as picking up the shopping now that Mrs. Grey was too pregnant for any outings.

Charity was glad that the packages weren't overly heavy as she walked down the street in her dark red wizarding robes with her dark hair flowing down her back. As she was walking, she did not expect some unkempt man to go tearing past her, causing her to stumble and sprain her ankle. To add to her injury, Charity knocked her head against the exterior of the building beside her, causing her to see stars. Dazed and disoriented with her packages strewn about, Charity sat among them and touched a hand to the back of her head and blinked at the blood on her hand.

Lance was done with work for the day and as the weather was quite nice he decided now would be a nice opportunity to just wander and clear his head. He supposed his head didn't truly need clearing. Nothing was really going on. But it was always nice to reflect one one's circumstances. He thought Mother was doing better. Taking the job as Matron at the asylum seemed to raise her spirits a bit, give her a sense of purpose. And Marcella and Kendra were getting over Father's death as well. Marcella was back to her cheerful self, playing the piano and the violin like there was no tomorrow while Kendra was racing around on a broomstick.

His thoughts were quickly disrupted when he stumbled upon a rather disheveled girl. Packages were strewn aground her and it looked like she was leaning against a building for support. All thoughts of his family banished, Lance ran to her side without a second thought. "My lady, are you alright?" he asked concerned. He extended a hand to help her up and would allow her to lean against him if she needed the support. "Do you need medical attention?" He could apparate her to the hospital if necessary and carry her to wherever she needed to go. It simply wasn't right to leave someone in her state alone to fend for herself.

It didn't escape his sharp blue eyes that she was bleeding. Expensive as it was he tore his sleeve without a second thought. He didn't know many healing spells but he knew the basics of bandaging wounds thanks to his readings. "Here, let me help you," he said gently, reaching out to wrap the piece of cloth around her head to stem the blood flow. Fortunately that wound didn't look too deep. But the girl seemed to be having trouble standing on her own.

Charity blinked up at the person that had come to her aid. In her disorientation, she couldn't help the tiny bit of hysteria that had her laughing at being called a lady. "I'm no lady, I'm a servant," she mumbled though she accepted the help he was offering. Well, the helping up part, she swayed on the spot but she refused to lean against him as that would be entirely too improper and she didn't want to be thought disrespectable. "No, I don't. I think I just need to sit for a bit."

Charitys eyes widened as he tore his clothing. Expensive, upper class clothing like what the master of the house wore. She was in such shock that someone of his standing would stop and help that she let him wrap the makeshift bandage about her head. Wobbling over to a nearby bench, she settled herself on it and looked forlornly at her packages. She hoped dearly that nothing had broken. She would never make it to head maid or something if she was known to break things she had been sent for. She was also rather skeptical of her savior. She was willing to bet that he would want something. Why else would a rich pretty boy help some lowly servant girl?

Of course, she was conveniently forgetting that her very employers were the type that would do the same thing as this young man had done.

Lance's deep blue eyes widened in concern at the girl's laughter. Although he didn't typically like being laughed at it would be alright here if the laughter sounded...more natural. But he could detect traces of hysteria in it. The girl must be more hurt than he knew. Or at least she was really scared.

He smiled kindly at her. "As far as I'm aware servants are still women so you're a lady." Lance believed it was only proper to treat all people with respect. After all your class and blood status were hardly something you could choose. Nobility of character and kindness of the soul were far more important. He frowned a bit as she swayed, wishing she would lean on him for support. But he wouldn't force his help on someone who didn't want it if she could managed. At least she let him bandage the wound. That should help the bleeding if nothing else.

Lance watched pained as she wobbled over to a bench, again wishing the girl would let him support her. He noticed her eyes straying to the strewn packages and made quick work of collecting them. He delicately set them beside her on the bench. She was such a dutiful servant, worrying about packages when she was hurt. But she should pay more attention to her health. Packages were replaceable. She was not.

    "Do you need some water?"
he asked concerned. She might be dehydrated after everything. "I'm Lance, by the way. Lance Stark. It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance," he said with a bow. He figured if she wasn't willing to go to the hospital immediately there was at least time for an exchange of names. "Might I know your name as well?"

Charity was definitely woman enough to blush slightly as the young man insisted that she was indeed a lady by virtue of being a woman alone. As she willed herself to relax, she still couldn't help but be on high alert. Well, she was no fallen woman so speaking to her surely would not tarnish her heroes reputation. She watched as he gathered up her belongings. She was not used to rich people aside from her employers being this nice. It had her slightly on edge. She would have to remember to ask Kay the next time she saw him if he had ever experienced this sort of kindness from one of the uppers.

"Water would be nice," she hazarded, lightly biting her bottom lip before blurting out, "could you do it by magic?" She had learned aguamenti before having to drop out of school due to having no money but of course, with the Trace, that knowledge was useless for another three years. When she was seventeen, life would be a tiny bit easier. "Charity sir, Charity Lannon" she replied as he asked her for her name.

As the lady blushed, Lance's cheeks tinged pink, having become suddenly aware that he was conversing with a stranger. He'd been so concerned he hadn't really stopped to think about it. But he was still worried. He wasn't yet certain how badly she'd injured herself.

He offered the lady a soft smile. "If you prefer," he said kindly. Anything that could take her mind off the pain would be beneficial. So if she wanted Lance to magically summon water even though he had a canteen with him (due to training) he would.

Lance extracted his wand as well as his empty canteen. (He liked to be prepared with training. He was never sure just what they would have him do and he handled challenges best if he was well hydrated. Of course he knew the charm to add water. But sometimes he'd cast so many spells he was drained. Saving your magical energy could be crucial.) He tapped his wand over the opening in the canteen and said "Aguamenti". A jet of water burst from his wand to fill the bottle. He held it out for her. "My lady," he offered with a sweet smile.

He beamed when the lady told him her name. "It's very nice to meet you Lady Lannon." He took a seat beside her. "Do you know a bit of magic?" he asked curiously. Some servants hadn't received any magical training. Others had some. Of course it was always possible she was a squib, a rough state of affairs. But he thought discussing magic might be a good way to make her forget her pain. She did seem interested in magic anyways.
