    Don't Give Me Lip! (Ursula)

Liana was really enjoying her job. All things considered she was fairly new here, having just started working here some months ago. But it was good to get out of the house. The house had too many memories of him, her beloved deceased husband. And now all her children had graduated. They were adults now. Being a matron was kind of like being a mother all over again. Although her children were significantly older and less able to take care of themselves.

Some were kind and friendly. Others you really needed to watch out for. Ursula was one of the ones you needed to watch out for. She had a temper that could give Liana a run for her money. And she always seemed to be in a foul mood. You definitely had to make sure you kept all remotely sharp objects far away from her.

Ursula was mortified to have been sent to the asylum and miserable that Phineas and seen fit to send her there the day after forgetting her birthday. She hadn't thought things could get any worse but they had. What if he kept her there for the rest of her life? What if she never attended another party? Never wore another ball gown? Would she die within these four walls? Would she ever see another garden party?

The first couple weeks had been the worst, she hadn't imagined she could ever feel so terrible but she had, it was only now that she was starting to feel better and more like herself now that the laudanum had gotten it's claws out of her. She wasn't completely her old self though, she was still miserable and feeling sorry for herself but she was no longer a drugged zombie. All she wanted was to go home and then... Well she didn't know what after that. Phineas had struck her. She wasn't sure she wanted to see him but she wanted to be home where people couldn't gossip that she was insane and locked away.

Ursula's back was to the door as she dozed but the sound of the door opening woke her. "Unless you have come to send me home, you may leave," she grumbled, hoping the person (probably the matron, the annoying beast) obliged her.

"As much as I would love nothing better to leave you and your foul temperament alone I have a job to do," Liana quipped. She was assigned to deal with Ursula pretty much without exception. Because she was bold and feared little and knew how to deal with temper tantrums. Plus she was the matron...So yeah. That wasn't to say she enjoyed it. Certainly not.

"So I'm here to make sure you eat and take your medicine. Do that quickly and peacefully and I can leave without too much fuss. Trust me, you're hardly a joy to talk to," she said bluntly.

She smirked. "At least you've finally gotten over the pity party stage. Yes, being here is horrible but sulking about it won't change anything."

Liana shoved a tray in front of Ursula. "Eat and take your meds."

    NOTES:
Ursula had expected many things of the asylum, many things being for her to despise it and for her to be locked in some clinical - yet luxurious - room that wasn't hers and to be treated like some delicate princess in a tower but apparently the service involved the staff insulting her and treating her like dirt. Had Phineas specifically requested this poor treatment of her or was he unaware? Perhaps she should write and complain but then he might keep her there longer.

"I didn't realize I was here to have old widows be rude to me. You are a widow aren't you? Or are you an old maid? Or perhaps you just hide your impoverishment well." She might not be back to her normal self but she wasn't going to take the woman's rudeness lying down. Even if she was literally lying down.

"Over the pity party stage" Ursula sneered at that nastily. "If I wish to feel sorry for myself then I shall." In truth she was still licking her wounds and feeling deeply sorry for herself until further notice. "I don't need medicine, I'm not ill," she sniffed, poking at her food with little interest. She assumed they had a house elf cooking but she was pretty sure it was blind and devoid of a sense of taste.
