Charming is a Victorian Era Harry Potter roleplay set primarily in the village of Hogsmeade, Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, and the non-canon village of Irvingly. Characters of all classes, both magical and muggle — and even non-human! — are welcome.

Did you know? Churchgoers and worshippers had to endure a foul stench during prayers due to the amount of bodies often stored within the vaults of churches and chapels.
The feeling, of course, could have been attributed to the fact that she had mistakenly left her shutters open, leaving her bedroom flooded with early-morning sunlight. Not bad, per se, but certainly not the norm. It could have been attributed to the fact that she was in Irvingly and not at Hogwarts—a change to which the Hufflepuff was still adjusting. More likely, though, it was the feeling of dampness she felt, as if she had wet the bed in the night.
But that was ridiculous; only children peed without any semblance of control. Pandora had had not struggled to use a chamber pot in over a decade; doubtless she would have awakened had she felt that particular urge!
Perplexed, the fifteen-year-old drew back her bed linens to find a particularly startling patch of red underneath.
In spite of herself, Dora let out a shrill scream more of shock than of actual terror, but surely loud enough to wake the neighbours nonetheless.

Despite being a sound sleeper, Sybella was immediately awakened when she heard her daughter’s scream. She had no idea what time it was, but she knew that something was wrong and that her little precious baby was probably being attacked by thieves or something.
She instantly jumped out of bed and without even bothering to put a robe on, Sybella grabbed her wand and rushed to her daughter’s room. “I’m coming Bunny!”
Once she reached her daughter’s room she sent the door backwards to the wall behind with a wave of her wand and entered the room as if it was under siege and frantically pointed her wand at every direction.

Any concern that Dora felt was entirely set aside by her bafflement as her mother stormed the room as if storming a castle to rescue a princess from a dragon—wand and all.
In spite of herself, the blonde let out a chuckle and then an outright laugh at the spectacle. “Mother!” she giggled. “We are not under attack!”

When she heard her daughter’s laughter, Sybella instantly went of panicky mother mode. A bit confused, she looked around the room before she gave her daughter a smile.
“But you screamed!” she said. “Did you have a bad dream Bunny?”

Pandora paused for a moment, unsure how to express matters. Of course now she knew what the problem must be, but had she had that presence of mind earlier, the Hufflepuff suspected she might have…hid the matter from her mother. It was not, of course, that she did not love the woman, just that her mother was prone to overenthusiasm (a family trait, if Dora was being honest).
“I…I was just startled is all,” she settled on at last, looking decidedly uncomfortable.

“Startled because of a bad dream? Oh B-” Sybella begun and went to give her daughter a small hug, when the sight of her daughter’s bed sheets made her freeze.
Blood. There was blood on her little precious baby’s sheets. And if she didn’t seem to have any wounds…
“OH BUNNY!” Sybella screamed and she rushed to grab her daughter in a tight embrace. She started kissing the crown of her daughter’s head frantically. “Oh my Bunny, my little Bunny!”

As strange as a reaction as it was, Pandora thought this was more less what she had expected from her mother. With a sigh, she did her best to pull away, though could not quite escape the elder Winterdowne’s attentions.
“Mama,” she insisted, exasperated, “it’s not so exciting as all that!”

It might not have been exciting to her daughter, but it was exciting for Sybella. Her little baby duck was a woman now! And you know what women did? They got married and left their homes behind.
“Oh, Bunny!” Sybella said as she started sobbing. “Bunny, Bunny, Bunny! You are a woman now! Oh, Bunny, you promise me, promise me to not try and elope, I am not ready for you leaving me yet!”

Pandora’s eyes were as wide as saucers and her mouth dropped open, aghast. “Elope?!”
Frankly the child had not even connected bleeding with marriage at all, leaving it the furthest thing from her mind (excluding such things as African languages and American hatpins)—her mother could be peculiar, but expecting her to elope was madness!
“If I should marry it won’t be for at least a decade,” Dora reassured her mother hurriedly.

How could Sybella possibly not be worried about her baby girl eloping? Pandora was a beautiful girl and now she wasn’t even a girl anymore. She was a woman and women got married at some point!
“Oh, my Bunny!” she said with a sob as she hugged her daughter tightly. “That’s what I like to hear! You will not be too friendly with the boys at school hm? If they tell you anything about running away with them you will not allow them to finish speaking!”

“Excellent!” Sybella commented and her eyes watered a bit. She knew that her baby wouldn’t abandon her. “You must promise me to marry someone fun too! I cannot imagine a greater unhappiness than to be married to someone boring!” Like Horace’s sister. Watching snails move about in the garden after the rain was more stimulating than a conversation with Amity Dobbs.
