Father,
I am foolish to think that Gervaise and Gaius would wait for the quarantine to be over so that I could attend your funeral. It is unpractical for one, which I ought to appreciate. Who knows when this horrible plague will be over? I only hope that I will be able to attend the memorial service. I cannot stand the thought of being unable to say a proper goodbye.
Perhaps that is why I am writing these letters — some part of me hopes that you might see them from wherever you are. I ought to know better to believe in such things. You did not choose to stay here as a ghost and for that I am grateful. I do not think you would have enjoyed it.
I miss you already. Do you miss me?
Your daughter,

Father,
You came to me in a dream last night. When I first saw you, I felt comforted; however, I realized that you had come to blame me for your death — just as you blamed me for Mother's. I apologized over and over, but you never seemed to listen. I have never seen you so angry. Hamish reassured me that it was just a dream, but I have had trouble believing it to be so.

Father,
It has been one week already and I have had very little sleep. I know Hamish worries about me. I find it difficult to confide in him, which only hurts him further. I just can't help but think that you were never very fond of him. I shouldn't blame him for it, of course. He did his very best to win you over. In the end, I believed that he had... but now, now I find myself doubting.
If I had been in Hogsmeade, would I have been able to help you? There is this horrible feeling eating away at me that makes me think that I could have.

I am unwell. I hid my scribblings for fear of Hamish or the staff finding it. I would not want them to think that I am not right in the mind, but I have begun to fear that it is so. I have not dressed or left my bedchamber for days. I am making my husband fearful, I can see it in the way he looks at me.
