"Are you always this forward?" He asked teasingly since it would be a very short thread if he just ignored her entirely. — Tobin Cartwright in Take A Peek
Did you know? Churchgoers and worshippers had to endure a foul stench during prayers due to the amount of bodies often stored within the vaults of churches and chapels.
While I have never given the idea of keeping a journal much thought -- despite knowing that it is considered an appropriately feminine task, and something my mother often encourages -- Uncle Remington gifting me with the most beautiful journal for Christmas has made me realize that perhaps it is high time that I begin keeping one. I am now sixteen going on seventeen, and with my debut only a year away, the practice of writing in a journal could prove useful, and perhaps even beneficial!

With Nova gone to call upon a friend in Padmore Park and the rest of my family all otherwise engaged, I suppose that this is as good a time as any to begin introducing myself and proving myself dedicated to the world of journaling.
To start, my name is Miss September Trinity Lynch -- though I tend to go by ‘Amber’ exclusively. I am sixteen-years-old and belong to the Gryffindor House at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry where I am in my sixth year of schooling. I am the fourth born child out of six siblings, with five sisters and a brother, though out of all of them, I am closest with my elder sister, November, who I have not only shared a bedroom and a dorm with my entire life but of whom it appears I share uncanny physical characteristics with, as well. In fact, we are often mistaken for twins! Even though Nova is the older of the both of us!
As for hobbies and interests, they mainly lie in Divination -- all aspects of it, though I am fond of both Tea Leaf and tarot card readings, in particular -- Astronomy, fashion, art (and when I’m feeling inclined to play, music), and the sports that are appropriate for my gender. I also have ambitions to one day travel around the world, though I’m afraid that my station in life -- which I cannot complain in the least about, because while I sometimes wish we were wealthier and ran in the more refined circles, I cannot say that we haven’t a comfortable living or a respectable circle of acquaintances -- may hold me back for achieving such a dream, but I do have a plan: I must marry, and I must marry well. That’s the only way in which I can see myself ever traveling to popular cities such as Paris and Rome or to experience the exotic and vibrant feel of India as I have read about in books and through magazines!
But alas, I must not get ahead of myself. I have a year left until I (and Nova, as well! ) make my own debut, and as much as I would wish to, I cannot rush the remainder of my sixth year and my final year of schooling. I must savor what little childhood I have left because once I am seventeen, I am no longer considered a child, but an adult. Besides, February is still unmarried, and I do not wish to be seen as competition. How awkward it would be if a younger sister was married before the elder!

Well, it seems that the new year is finally upon us! 1885 sounds like a grand number, don’t you think? Full of promise and hope that the year will prove to be a excellent one! I can already feel that the year of 1885 will be quite generous to us, which I believe is only fair after all of the suffering and strife the last half of 1884 threw at the good people of Hogsmeade!
I suppose that this may also be a suitable time to mention my wishes and resolutions for the New Year. Which are few in number I’m afraid, but certainly not lacking the effort I shall need to exert in order to achieve them!
To start from the most important to the least significant, I state that I wish to end the school term with passable grades in all of my five N.E.W.T classes -- Transfiguration, in particular, has given me quite a bit of trouble of late. Secondly, I feel that I have been quite neglectful as a sister, and I’d like to strengthen the relationships between my siblings and I -- January and October, especially. Thirdly, I hope to make a semi-accurate prediction in my tea leaf reading endeavors; semi-accurate is certainly better than being completely and utterly wrong! Fourthly and last, I wish to hone my musical skills; sadly, I have been neglecting that particular skill in favor of more trivial pursuits, but no more!

I can't deny that I am very happy for her. To get an offer of courtship before the start of her second Season is an accomplishment that many women cannot boast of -- and the fact that it was from a gentleman as wealthy and highborn as Mr. Beaumont makes the situation even more grand! -- and not to mention that this would be very advantageous for my sisters and I. If Mr. Beaumont and my sister were to marry before summer of next year, Nova and I could possibly have the chance of participating in a real Season. She could help us properly ingratiate into society and throw us in the path of Mr. Beaumont's eligible acquaintances, and how wonderful that would be!
I was right to believe that the year of 1885 would be kind to us, and I can scarcely wait to see what else it has in store!

February's courtship was announced in Witch Weekly! I was quite surprised that it hadn't been formally announced in the Daily Prophet, though I suppose courtships do not warrant much attention in the paper's gossip column unless they are broken, and I do not foresee -- and indeed I don't, for my tarot card reading for Febby alludes to a very positive future! -- that happening to my sister and Mr. Beaumont in the near future.
