Rowena held her head high, though felt extremely low indeed, as she entered the Three Broomsticks. She was immediately seated, and Rowena couldn't hold it in any longer. She put her head in her hands, shaking and desperately trying not to cry. It's over now, there's nothing you can do. Just move on, she told herself, willing it to be true. But she simply couldn't take her mind off it. Perhaps it was for the better, anyway. Her Mother would have been appalled by her 'childish' behaviour had she found out. Apparently, 15 was far too young to fall in love. She knew this, and she knew it well, but she hadn't on purposely fallen in love, it had just.. happened. And one of them had to see sense. Unfortunately, it wasn't her. She could have married him, they could have lived together. But being upper class had its difficulties. She unpinned her hair angrily, letting it fall over her face in loose curls. Then she cried. She cried because she was so young. She cried because he was so young. She cried because she had to. A waitor, looking rather anxious, sidled over to her table and bent down. 'You okay there, Miss?' He asked, trying to peer through the gap in her hair. She nodded, a little too enthusiasticly. She didn't want anybody to know what the matter was. They would have been ashamed of her. She ordered a coffee, and cupped her hands around it. She liked her hair down. She felt safe behind it, instead of exposed.
The door opened behind her and somebody else entered. Rowena stiffened up. If it was a friend of hers, she would have had to explain what the matter was, which she really did not want to have to do. But the footsteps neared her. A tear silently fell down Rowena's cheek, as she prayed they wouldn't come to her table. It was the last thing she needed right now. Even though she wanted somebody to talk to, she couldn't just blab to anybody. She wasn't going to tell her Mother. Nor her best friends. Therefore she was certainly not going to tell a stranger. Probably.
