It is good news with which I write to you:  Mrs. Malfoy informed me just before the new year that she expects her first child! I apologize for not informing you sooner, but I did not wish to excite you unduly. The healers are now, however, quite certain that it will keep, and so you shall be an aunt for the fourth time over later on in the year.

I hope that you are doing well since your return to school.

You know, you really don't need to refer to November as 'Mrs. Malfoy' in your letters to me. It makes it sound like we hate each other, or like I'm some distant friend!

With that being said, I'm really happy for you. I hope it's a boy. It's always so stressful for women when their first child isn't a boy. Remember our sister Isolde?

I've been doing well since my return to school. I'm sure you don't care about a fininishing school student's daily life, so I won't bore you with the details.

Propriety, my dear! Honestly, maybe mother ought to reconsider your enrollment at Pendergast’s if you have learned so little! I jest, of course, though confess that I think you are far friendlier than my wife than I am, if only because you have adopted her as a true sister (for which I am, indeed, quite pleased!)

While I would quite like a son, I do not think it would be the end of the world if November was unsuccessful in this endeavor the first time round. I am keenly aware that childbearing is a dangerous business, and shall be overjoyed if she and the babe simply make it through the ordeal with their good health intact.

You do me no favors in assuming my disinterest, though I confess that it is, largely, true Your company is genuinely enjoyable, Brynn, but the antics of your peers are rather more than my patience can bear! Please never hesitate to inform me of anything newsworthy, though, or anything you consider to be of importance.

More men need to think like you, brother. I daresay that many husbands would rather see their wives die than have a daughter. Just like that savage muggle king, Henry I believe he was called.

Now, you know that I wouldn't bore you with gossip, but this is simply too big for me not to share it with you! I was invited at a tea party, hosted by an old yearmate of mine, along with the other pureblooded girls of our year. It was a rather boring affair, until Miss Ellory Pendergast hexed my dear friend Antigone Lestrange! And all because Antigone dared to make a comment about her dress - it wasn't even a mean one! She was such a baby, I swear.
