Full Name: Evander Barclay Darrow Nicknames: Evander doesn't like nicknames. >:( Sometimes his wife calls him E. Birthdate: July 9th 1849 Current Age: 38 years Occupation: Assistant Head of the Department of Magical Education Reputation: 5 Residence: London Hogwarts House: Ravenclaw Wand: Ash, 11", unyielding, unicorn tail hair Blood Status: Half Social Class: Middle Family: Barclay Darrow, Father [1818-1879] Evangeline Darrow née Hardacker, Mother [1828-1884] Evelina Lloyd née Darrow, Sister [1853-1883], and family John Alfred Darrow, Brother [1854-1882 present] "Laura" Darrow nee --- - Wife [1860ish, married 1884] Appearance: Standing just a hair taller than Alfred at 5'9.5", Evander has always been a solidly-built man. He has gray eyes and blond hair, and wears muggle suits rather than Ministerial robes. He is right-handed, and not an especially smiling or expressive fellow. (A case can be made for his having resting bitch face.) He wears a wedding ring, and never grows a beard. History: 1849: EVANDER IS BORN, the first child of Barclay & Evangeline Darrow. 1853: Evelina is born and Evander is totally not at all into having younger siblings, having quite settled into being an only child. 1854-1860: John Alfred Darrow is born and Evander is even less into this, having wanted to at least be the only boy. The next several years involve some light bullying of his brother, more because Evander is a little boy and little boys are shits than anything else. Highlights include E convincing JD that he's a changeling. 1860: Evander gets his Hogwarts letter and is sorted into Ravenclaw as soon as the hat touches his head. He settles in nicely, and life in the castle has the added impact of slowly turning him into less of an ass. He's a very studious person pretty much immediately, and is especially a giant nerd about THEORY. 1861: Evander comes home for the summer and finds that his siblings have bonded without him! Pft. He also realizes that he is much less adventurous than both Johnny and his father. Oh well. 1862-1867: E picks Ancient Studies & Arithmancy as his electives. (Hi Uncle Hamish!) He has a generally uneventful Hogwarts career as he becomes steadily more of an academic, does well on his OWLs, and later on his NEWTs. 1867: Evander begins to work in the Ministry, in the Department of Magical Education. Work becomes his first love. 1870: Evander moves out of the family home and into a small house in London. 1874: Johnny begins talking about some nonsense "voyage" that Evander tries not to listen to too hard. 1879: Barclay gets eaten by a dragon. Evander is sad about it, but also immensely frustrated that his father got himself in that position in the first place. 1882: J. Alfred leaves on his expedition and... never comes back. Although they've never been close, Evander is v. sad about this - and again, frustrated with his ever-adventurous family. Late in the year, he meets "Laura" and is, for the first time ever, besotted. 1883: Evander starts courting "Laura." Evelina dies, and J. Alfred is declared dead. At this point Evander feels as if the blows to the family just keep coming. While in half-mourning, he proposes to Laura. 1884: Evander and Laura marry. A month later, his mother dies. Cousin Ramsay also dies. At the end of the year, he's promoted to assistant head of the department, but with his almost-entire immediate family dead it's rather hard to be delighted about it. 1885: Evander had rather thought that Laura would be pregnant by now, but no such luck. 1886: Still no children. 1887: Still no children. AND THEN, UH, J. ALFRED IS ALIVE? Evander has no idea what to do with this stranger; a boy he's never gotten along with who is very suddenly a man with tattoos and South American adventures, who fidgets with his sleeves and stayed, very briefly, in his house. #Awkward. Secretly Evander kind of wants to bond with his brother, but has no idea how... and is probably going to be pissed when he hears about the Expedition to Avalon. Personality: A serious but clever fellow, Evander was a shit as a kid but has since grown out of it. He is hard-working and falls into the Ravenclaw follies of being prideful and judgmental, but is quite enthusiastic when actually excited about something... which isn't often. KIND OF JD'S FOIL?
