Mr. Flint,
I read in the Prophet on the 4th of this month that you intend to run for Minister of Magic. As I'm sure you noticed, that very same issue ran a story about a werewolf attack on a Muggle town that left "innumerable" Muggles dead. I don't believe I am alone in my surprise that you made no comment on this event, either in the original article or in the days that have followed. Of all the candidates for Minister, your position makes you uniquely qualified to speak on the issues of lycanthropy in our society, and yet you have expressed no clear opinions.
If the escalating events of this year have made anything clear, it is that this problem is no longer one which the magical world can afford to ignore, as it seems to have done in the past. If elected, would your policy regarding this be one of continued silence, repression, and ignorance? Are you inclined to reform the system which has obviously left a number of dangerous creatures running wild every month, or content to allow tragedy to continue to strike every few months so long as it does not affect you personally? Does your way forward on this issue involve harsher circumstances for those already afflicted, or an olive branch in an attempt to see fewer of these werewolves continuing to cling to the shadows for fear of discovery?
It is clear that if you remain silent on this issue, Mr. Flint, the rest of the Ministerial candidates are content to follow suit. You are single-handedly stemming the flow of conversation, and halting any progress the wizarding world might make on this issue--and it is entirely probable that in so doing you are damning countless future victims to a fate similar to the Muggles of Glasgow, or former Minister Urquart's daughter. What we have been doing in the past (which, from an outsider's perspective, appears to be nothing) is clearly not working. The question now is: how do you propose to fix it?
