History: Born the second child and only girl to Simon, a muggle man and Lucille, a pureblood witch, Ruth grew up in a continual state of poverty. From an early age, she helped out around the house, trying to make things easier. She cleaned, cooked and took care of Anthony, especially after Elias went off to Hogwarts. They were a very fortunate family in that Simon and Lucille were still in love even after Simon found out that his children were magical and his wife a witch. They were never short on love in the Grimstone household and that at least, was plentiful- at least where her mother was concerned. While her parents were obviously very much in love, Ruth could tell that her father felt a bit left out once it was confirmed that all of the children were magical and therefore became very distant during her childhood. It's something she can have a hard time with looking back, but she understood his reasons now, as an adult, but it still stings.
When her own Hogwarts letter arrived, she was thrilled, though felt the pressure on her family of sending a second child off to school. It was not cheap to send a student to Hogwarts, but thanks to her mother and her brilliant ability to make things stretch, the Grimstones made it work. Once at school Ruth was sorted into Gryffindor, just like Elias and she was elated. The two had always been close growing up and while Rue had never been a stranger to Anthony either, she always felt like more of a more maternal figure where he was concerned, as she helped raise him. With Elias, she was always trailing after him. Rue had never been the kind of girl to stay inside and play with dolls, she had never feared getting dirty or running around with the boys as a little girl. She was under the impression that if she played like the boys, she would be accepted as one. Whether or not this really worked was a question, but she always felt close to her brothers despite the fact that they she had no other girls to play with.
Hogwarts was a favored time in her life. She often felt guilty when at Hogwarts because she always knew when her next meal was coming and the first few months at school proved to improve her health as she gained a healthy amount of weight and filled out a bit. Her guilt eased a bit when Anthony joined them in at Hogwarts, but she still felt like she needed to help out her family. What she didn't realize was that doing well in her schooling was the best way to help out. Unfortunately, with the freedom of school and without the responsibilities of home, Rue tended to slack off a bit. School came naturally to her, but following the rules did not. Rue did no like being told when to be where or what she could or could not do. She tried very hard, but her natural Gryffindor rebellious side frequently made itself known. While Elias could always be counted on to be reliable, Ruth was not always such. The academic part of school was not as tough as she imagined, charms and transfiguration became her strong suits. Anything she could perform in proved to be a strength of hers. History of Magic, while interested, lacked the action she craved and she dropped it at soon as she could. Potions was not her best, nor her worst, but it came easier because she already knew how to cook. Summers were always a reality check, that she really did need to help out and eventually got back into the swing of things, just about the time they were headed back to school.
Her time at Hogwarts seemed to fly by. She wanted to play quidditch but never quite managed to make the team. She was a fair flyer and would have made a hell of a beater, but she never put enough effort into being the best. By the time her sixth year rolled around Ruth finally put effort into school. She realized she would not be the kind of girl eagerly looking for a husband during her first season out of school. No Ruth had every intention, after her brother's success with his broomstick making, to do something on her own. She wanted to find a job, even if it was in one of the shops on High Street and make it her own. Rue graduated with several NEWTs in her possession and it was enough for her to find a job right after graduation. She briefly worked the local Apothecary before turning her attentions to the wandlore at Ollivanders. It was something that had always intrigued her and therefore when the opportunity presented itself, she jumped at the chance. She has been working in the wand shop for a few months now and fortunately her quick-thinking and ability to learning fast have landed her in a position she loves. She continues to study wandlore and its history. Once she has set her mind to achieving something, it usually happens, no matter what kind or amount of work it takes.
Personality: Determined, passionate, hot-tempered, trustworthy, honest, independent, stubborn, quick-witted, sarcastic, reliable, impetuous, quick to judge, caring, hard to read, quiet upon first meeting, calculating, likes to laugh.

o Simon Grimstone | father, muggleAppearance: Standing tall, like most of her family at 5'7" Ruth is skinny, weighing in at roughly 120lbs. She has always thought herself to be plain-looking, though with long auburn-brown hair and wide, expressive blue eyes, it could be easily contended. Her reasoning could be that she has always worked for what she wanted in life and never relied on good looks to get something she was after. Her skin is rather pale, but mostly because she spends a lot of time at work, inside. She wears plain dresses and rarely gets fancy for any reason. She is left-handed.
