Olive, How is your last year at school going? I can't believe that you're seventeen already, that you're going to graduate. Excuse me for getting a bit emotional.I don't know if you've had any thoughts about what you might want to do after school, but I was thinking that if you wanted, you could help me out at the pub?Alice? Dear Sister -

My year has been good so far...I think I may yet have a year of Potions in which I don't singe my brows! I managed to brew a potion...oh I forget the name of it...but I managed to make it without it blowing up. I honestly don't know how I managed to score high enough to still be eligible for the class, but I'm glad I did. I do enjoy making potions, even if it isn't suited to me.

Perhaps it's silly of me, but I half expected Mr. de Montfault to ask for my hand in marriage, in which case I would have said yes and been married soon after my graduation. But he called things off. I think he felt as though I were too young for him, and I suppose I can't really blame him. I am younger than his daughters, after all. But for whatever reason, I bear him no ill will. I think we'll remain friends.

But as to helping out around the pub, I don't suppose I'd mind that too much. In truth, I hope to gain a job as a professor at some point. Or maybe I'll be a novelist! Oh there are many things I'd like to do, but I am young yet so I have time to figure these things out. I hope to travel a bit too...to see the world would be a magical thing, wouldn't you agree?

At any rate, I will most assuredly help out at the pub at least for a time. It must be so fascinating to work there and see so many different people! I bet I'll make many new friends, and a girl can never have too many of those. Perhaps I'll meet my prince charming since Mr. de Montfault was not he. Oh I'm just being silly now. How have you been, dear sister?

    Hugs and Love,

    Olive

Olive, I'm very proud of you for that! Though, perhaps you should set the school on fire (the fire that burns but doesn't actually burn anything it touches) just to see the reactions. That could be fun, too.Olive, I hate to be the bearer of bad news but Mr. de Montfault would have had to ask Oxford and myself and obtain a unanimous consent before he could properly ask you to marry him (doing so if we had said no would be demeaning on his character and yours and I doubt he would've done so) and neither Ox nor myself would have given him permission to do so. He is not well suited for you; you should find someone closer to your own age with whom you have more in common with. You may go into whatever profession your heart most desires- unless it's that of a whore. I'll put my foot down there, but so long as you're happy being a novelist then go right ahead. I could see you writing wonderful children's stories.Working at the pub is fun, I'll give you that one, and it certainly is interesting to see the people get drunk and do obscene and funny things. If I were more worried about you, I wouldn't have asked, with all the shenanigans that go on.As for me, I'm doing alright. Gareth and I are doing well- I could see us together for a long while. He suits me much better than James ever did (though perhaps that was just on the premise that I hated him because of Mum and Dad).Aliceó¥ BRI !
