I can't figure out why I'm alone and freezing

Ursula had no idea if Orson had written to her husband yet, if he had then that meant Phineas wasn't heeding it, obviously. She'd seen little of him even at the wedding and she was beginning to wonder if he would even return home for Christmas after her stunt with the amortentia. What if he was furious over it? Either way, she wanted to make another attempt to harass persuade her husband into returning home. Of course this meant she had to go to Hogwarts which was always a source of great annoyance to her, especially in her current condition. One could not simply apparate into Hogwarts. Not that she was in an apparating mood since her return from the trail.

It was as she was passing the Black Lake that the wind managed to separate her from her hat. Sighing irritably, she lifted a corner of her skirts slightly so she could follow after it. It was snagged on a low-hanging branch of a tree not too far from the end of the water. Hoping no one was watching her from the castle, she managed to reach the tree but just as she was reaching out to grab the garment, there was an almighty gust of wind that caught against her skirts and unbalanced her.

For a moment she thought she could regain her balance but a split-second later, she was falling backward towards the lake. She let out a shriek of terror as she realized she was falling in. The water was ice cold and her skirts were mercilessly heavy, dragging her under and hindering her ability to float. Not to mention she couldn't swim. "FOR THE LOVE OF MERLIN, SOMEONE HELP ME!" she yelled shrilly, struggling to keep her chin above the water as she splashed about uselessly and pretended she didn't feel anything tickling her ankle. With a feeling of dread, she noticed that she had managed to drift away from the waters edge which made her panic all the more.

Priam was beginning to get tired of just being around. He needed to do something so in order to get some time to think and relax he had taken out just for swimming. He had placed his spear at home and only had his usual hunting knife by his side. As usual these free trips without any meaning had gotten him close to the surface but he was still low enough that he only was able to see vague silhouettes of what was happening above the waterline.

He heard a splash and looked up towards the surface. Whenever that sound reached him, he could be almost sure that some humans had thrown something or someone into the water. He quickly began swimming towards the surface to see what was going on, but before he got all the way he could see fabric flowing around above him.

Even though he still felt like he could learn a lot more about the human world, he felt almost sure that it would be a female who had fallen into the lake this time. He sighed inaudible; the many layers of fabric would definitely not be helping her to get back on land. As much as Priam knew that most humans were not too fond of the mer people, he had always been one to try and help people. Mostly because he did not like the thought of a human corpse in the lake or as the giant squid's lunch, so in order to avoid both things he swam closer and wondered what he could do to help her.

The first option in his head was to cut some of the fabric off with his knife but he quickly decided against it. while swimming, his half long hair got close to the woman's ankle and he quickly pulled his body away to avoid being kicked. His tail pushed one last time and his head reached the surface. Without saying anything he tried to grab around the woman's waist so he could pull her into land so she would be safe.

I can't figure out why I'm alone and freezing

Ursula couldn't see anyone around who might be able to see or hear her. She was alone, completely alone. She was going to drown, she was going to flounder there for a little while longer but she'd get tired eventually and just... drown. Just like that. The thought of her corpse being all bloated disgusted her but what repulsed her even more was the thought of being buried pregnant. When she was laid out in her casket, she wanted to looked peacefully dead and beautiful and all that but she would be damned if she'd be waterlogged and pregnant at her own funeral!

An arm suddenly found her waist and frightened her half to death. She screeched in terror and began flailing her arms in panic. "UNHAND ME! UNHAND ME AT ONCE, YOU FIEND! DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM?!" Gasping for air as she persisted to put up what was a rather pathetic fight, she wriggled and flailed as best as she could though with the weight of her clothing and her current state, it was pretty futile. "I AM THE HEADMASTER'S WIFE, I DEMAND YOU UNHAND ME AT ONCE OR I SHALL HAVE YOU PUT TO DEATH, WHATEVER OR WHOMEVER YOU ARE!"

She flailed her arms some more but was quickly growing tired, even with the adrenaline rush. "Let go of me, I say! It is highly improper and outright rude!" She paused for a moment or so to gather her breath but it was a far more challenging task than expected. Her corset was extra heavy now that the fabric was soaking wet and clinging and she had inhaled a fair amount of water which was now making her choke and cough which was equally uncomfortable. Not to mention the water was freezing cold.

Priam rolled his eyes, not giving up so easily. Her clothes were heavy, even too him, but he could survive not having to breath unlike her. He let go of her waist, and got in front of her. He pushed his hair back so his sea-green eyes could look into hers. He kept a serious look on his face, even though he felt slightly annoyed. How dared she come with death treats when he was trying to save her? Without a single word, he quickly grasped around her waist again and once again tried to drag her towards land.

He laughed a little to himself, he was honestly not scared of her or any other human, he tried to avoid them most of the time, but because he was so curious about the human world, he usually took every opportunity to stay close to the surface. He could feel the weight of her clothes, but he focused on keeping her head above water so she could breathe without getting water in her lungs. Why are humans so stubborn? Why can't she just let me help her and then both of us can get away from here without any more problems. he thought while fighting to keep her above water. He just hoped that she soon would be out of strength so he would be able to get her onto land safely without much fight.

His knife was hanging safely by his side, but he considered finding it, if it meant she would stop fighting against him. He only wanted to help her, but he was using both arms around her wait to keep her up. The thought of cutting off some of fabric seemed better and better.

Ursula noted with great annoyance that she was being ignored. Could she not drown in peace if she wanted to? Not that she really wanted to but she stubbornly felt far more inclined to drown than to be mer-handled by some disgusting green sub-human creature that likely smelled like seaweed and tuna.

He let go of her for a moment and Ursula felt a sense of satisfaction that she had adequately deterred the beast from harassing her, at least until she was faced with the individual in question face to face. His eyes disturbed her greatly and she wondered for a moment if she wasn't going to die by drowning but be eaten alive by the fishman. She gasped and inhaled some more water as he grabbed her once again. Coughing and spluttering some more, she tried to struggle against him again but it was even more futile than before. "This is quite inappropriate! Let me go at once! Let go!" She glanced in the direction of the castle and hoped to Merlin Phineas would see her and rescue her from her slimy savior. Not that she was of the belief he was trying to save her rather than trying to eat her or something equally as awful.

"If you do not release me, my husband shall have your entire lake drained and you shall shrivel up and cease to exist!" she hissed angrily, trying to make herself as heavy as possible by resorting to dead weight so that he might fail in his intentions - which of course she was certain wasn't to save her life. "LET GO OF ME!"

Priam sighed and released her, but only with one hand. He quickly grabbed his knife and pulled it up and held it towards her, hoping she would just shut up and allow him to help her. He could not care less about any of her treats. He did not think that any wizard had the power to drain the lake, it was really deep and there were a lot of creatures in the lake that would fight against them. Without thinking about it he quickly hissed in his own language: "Will you please shut up and let me help you." He doubted that she would understand it, but it was too late to stop himself from saying it out loud.

He kept trying to help her towards the land, he needed to get her onto land. Why could she just not understand that he wanted to help her. Human minds are the strangest I have ever met. They never make any sense. I doubt she wants to drown and I only want to help her. Why can't she just be quiet and let me pull her to safe land. he thought, finding himself very annoyed at her trying to push him off.

Ursula for a second time thought she was being released but instead he was simply pulling out a knife which instantly provoked a scream. "HELP! HELP! IT'S GOING TO STAB ME! SOMEONE HELP!" Now she really was struggling. "Put it away! Put it away at once! I demand you not threaten me with that! HELP!" Oh today was simply not her day! What rotten luck! Why couldn't she have been found by someone else first? A human someone else? "You wouldn't dare harm a woman with child, would you? Even for one of your kind that would be disgraceful!"

Her panic-stricken struggles were very short-lived as she truly didn't have the energy to fight anymore. Her entire body was now aching with cold and exhaustion. As she reluctantly fell a little quieter, she wondered if he was actually trying to take her back to land; no, no he couldn't be, he was a scaly, sharp-toothed savage she was quite sure had less kindly designs upon her. A strange screeching noise came from his mouth and she assumed he was saying something but being wholly uninterested in other people, cultures and creatures, the only languages she spoke were French, English, Latin and scraps of other European languages. Mermish was not among them.

When she continued to scream he just looked at her. He decided to put away the knife, it was simply just easier to wait until she had tired herself out and he would be able to drag her. He looked a little surprised when she said that she was with child, he knew that humans did not get children the same way the mer people did, but he was still surprised about this.

When she finally seemed to be tired enough to stop fighting against him, he grabbed her waist with both hands once again and began swimming towards the nearest ground. He really hated all the heavy fabric and once again the thought of cutting it off came into his head. He shook his head, he had to stop thinking about it. Hearing how much she screamed just by being touching on the outsides of her clothes, he doubted that she would act any better if he cut off any of her clothes. It demanded a lot of his powers to keep them going towards the safe grounds. Once again he thought negatively about humans and thinking they were stupid, but he kept trying to help her. He knew it was the right thing to do, even though it would have been so easier to just let her drown or let the Grindylows grab a hold of her legs and drag her down if her clothes did not do the job.

He finally felt like they were moving toward the edge of the lake, hopefully it would be easier now than before. Maybe she would even calm down when she realized that they were moving towards her world instead of his.

Thankfully, the knife was put away and Ursula almost sighed with relief. She did, however, pick up on what looked to be surprise on his face (or that was what she was assuming it was) when she mentioned the fact that she was pregnant. That must've been why he put his knife away though if he really was surprised by it, she couldn't help but feel somewhat smug about it. At least it wasn't obvious to everyone yet. Not that a merman really counted as a someone to her.

She groaned with frustration as he had both hands on her again but she was beyond the point of fighting. If he was truly rescuing her, let him and if he wasn't... Well she hoped she died quickly and Phineas avenged her death suitably. Preferably by killing all the merfolk in the Black Lake or something of that nature. If she did get out of the lake without being attacked or compromised by merpeople, she certainly hoped she didn't get pneumonia. That would make meeting up with Mr. Pettigrew later in the week quite impossible.

What was she going to tell Phineas if she ever escaped alive? Would he care? He better damn well care or else... She didn't know what else but whatever what else was, it wasn't a good thing. She was starting to feel rather drowsy for some reason and was beginning to lose the ability to care about what happened. So she drowned? So what? So she didn't drown? Oh well, what did it really matter in the end? She tried to keep her eyes open but they were steadily beginning to droop. All that splashing around and fright and panic was tiring work, a little sleep would be welcome.

Priam was happy that she seemed to be tired. It had been too long already and with her not fighting against it seemed to get easier to get her safe. He forced himself to stay strong, he was not going to give up now. He smiled when he noticed that the ground seemed to get closer, maybe it was almost over. Hopefully she would fall down when she was on land, realize that he had just saved her. At least he would feel better about himself when he had helped her.

He tried to focus on hearing her breathing, as long as it seemed steady he did not felt any worry. He did not look at her, keeping his eyes on the goal, her safety on the ground. As much as he did not feel entirely strong right now, then he still wanted to get her there. He could always go home to rest a little afterwards, he did not have anything he had to do today.

After several minutes of fighting towards the ground, he finally reached it and began pushing her up. He smiled a little, he had actually succeeded in getting her to safety. He felt proud of himself, he was beginning to doubt that he would hear any form of gratitude from her, but he had a feeling that she would be grateful, at least a little bit.

I can't figure out why I'm alone and freezing

Having given into some melodramatic fate of being merman lunch or something equally unpleasant, she was exceptionally surprised when instead of being dragged under the water's surface, she was being pushed away from it onto the bank. "Don't touch me!" she snapped at him as he was trying to get her out of the water, not so much because she didn't want to be back on dry land but because she was still feeling cantankerous and difficult.

Once she was back on land - albeit sprawled horizontally on the ground drenched in lake water - she couldn't help feeling a wave of relief that she was not in immediate danger of drowning anymore. "So..." she paused to catch her breath properly before continuing. "Are you just going to leave me here then?" she demanded, still breathing heavily and trying to find the will to actually stand up and figure out how to get home without embarrassing herself any further by looking like... Well, like she had just fallen into a lake. She couldn't be seen in public in such a state but neither could she apparate. She doubted she'd be able to stand the weight of her clothing with as much water as she'd absorbed into them. Using magic to solve the issue of being soaking wet would be a perfect solution were her wand not likely to get revenge on her or backfire.

Priam rolled his eyes again and continued to push her until she was lying on the ground. She still did not seem grateful or anything, but at least she was not screaming any more at him. When she asked whether or not he would just leave her there he shrugged his shoulders. He could definitely find something else to do, but it was not needed. He could stay here if she wanted him to, but he doubted it, judging by the way she did not like him touching her, even on her clothes. He had no reason to try anything else, but it still annoyed him that she was not grateful.

He could not help her to get dry, but he trusted that she had a wand and would be able to dry herself without his help and without thinking twice about it. He may not knew much about the human world and their magic, but he thought it would be possible for her.

Ursula sneered at the creature. She didn't like feeling she owed the creature a damn thing, it was obliged to stop her from drowning. She was the Headmaster's wife and the Black Lake was part of the grounds of Hogwarts and therefore it made the lake his as well as all the disgusting, slimy lake creatures Ursula preferred not to think about. At least, that was how she saw it.

She glanced towards the lake and scowled at the merman, what was he waiting for? What did he want? A medal? He certainly wasn't getting a thank you if that was what he was waiting for, she didn't even know if he could understand what she said anyway. Finally moving to sit up, she began fussing over her rather worse for wear dress and wondered how she was to get home without being seen. "What do you want?" she snapped without warning, shooting the man an irritable glare.

Priam just looked at the woman, apparently he was not going to hear some gratitude from her. He shrugged his shoulders and looked at her one last time before he pushed himself away from the ground and began sinking down into the water again. He should probably go back to the lake and forget what had just happened. All he seemed to hope for was that she would remember it the next time she got into the water and someone tried to help her. "Humans, they are the most annoying things I have ever met." He said to himself after beginning swimming down towards his own world.

The fish man vanished shortly thereafter and Ursula supposed she would just have to attempt some magic and hope she didn't kill herself in the process. Steadily, she got to her feet and took out her wand which had luckily not floated away. Pointing it at her dress, she managed to successfully cast a spell that would remove the mud and water from her clothes before she directed her wand at her hair to make it more presentable. At least now she wouldn't look a bedraggled mess for her return home. Or less of one anyway.
