  Jane Mary and Charles,

  As you may not know, your elder half-brother Victor got married on November first. The other boy, Edgar, is still a lazy child with no courting going on. School is well, I presume? Your mother is well and quite social in her endeavors, bringing many guests over to our home. It has been rather loud here at present. I do expect you both to keep up with your school work and that you enjoy everything until Christmas holiday.
