In Character
Full Name: Lenore Ines Van Tassel.
Nicknames: Lenny, L.
Birthdate: March 17, 1864.
Current Age: Nineteen.
Occupation: Healer - Department of Potions and Plant Poisoning.
Hogwarts House: Gryffindor.
Wand: Ash, 12 1/4", reasonably supple, unicorn hair core.
Blood Status: Half-blood.
Social Class: Middle.
Family:
Adalbert Van Tassel - father, pure, businessman, Gryffindor alumna, born 1832.
Regina Van Tassel (nee Abrahams) - mother, half, housewife, Ravenclaw alumna, born 1842.
--- Sabine Garrett (nee Van Tassel) - eldest sister, half, housewife, Ravenclaw alumna, born 1862.
--- Margreet Simmons (nee Van Tassel) - elder sister, half, housewife, Ravenclaw Alumna, born 1860.
Appearance: Lenore stands at approximately five feet and four inches tall with a lean, one hundred and fifteen pound frame. Her lightly olive complexion is complimented by long chocolate locks of hair and matching eyes. Full, rosy lips and long, dark lashes finish off her soft beauty. She is right-handed. As for clothes, she wears fashionable - but sensible - gowns usually in hues of rose and olive, sticking to earth tones and pastels. Spring is her favourite palette and she dresses to match it all year round.
History:
1864 - 1874 | Having been born the third girl to a family of no boys, Lenore was - for lack of a kinder term - ignored. Though her parents didn't hate her for existing, they were disappointed to say the least that the family name would not be carried on and they would have no suitable heirs. Sabine, being the eldest, was given the bulk of their affections. She was modeled into the perfect lady - a lady any gentleman would be insane not to want. Poised and perfect, she was quickly married off in her older years. Margreet, determined to shine just as brightly, quickly followed in her sister's footsteps.
Childhood, however, was not awful for Lenore. Though it is true her parents never connected with her as they did Sabine, she was given all the things a young girl should have. Dresses, toys, and the like. Toys, however, never much interested the youngest Van Tassel. She much preferred her imagination to the cold confines of her nursery and often snuck outdoors to play in the gardens. These frequent excursions were not exactly encouraged, but her father did not stop them either. Soon, the only place her family knew to be able to find her was amoungst the blushes of colour that surrounded their property in Kensington. Nature, it seemed, was her truest and only friend. But that was not to say that Lenore felt lonely - she most certainly did not. Though it would have been easy to bemoan her somewhat neglected upbringing, Lenore was actually a very happy child. She was curious about the world, inquisitive and bold, but also sensible for her age and clever in a way her sisters could never fully appreciate.
1875 - 1882 | Upon entering Hogwarts, she was - shockingly to her family - sorted into Gryffindor. And though the hat debated for some time over this decision, she felt it had done well in the end to put her there. Her sisters, both Ravenclaw, wondered why their clever younger sibling had not joined them in the house of their mother.
Early on, Lenore knew exactly what she wanted to do with her life. Her love of nature made it easy to excel in herbology and even care of magical creatures, but her kind and gentle nature made her want to heal. Potions proved a particular difficulty in the beginning, but determination and long hours of study put her in the running to become a Healer. The library quickly became her friend, but she was also keen on lugging her texts out into the fresh air, where she could both breathe and think more easily.
Being both friendly and bold, Lenore made many friends while attending school. Her sisters thought that she would surely be married before her dreams of healing ever came to fruition, but, alas, at the close her seventh year she had no suitors. A few men had a passing fancy in her, but upon hearing of her aspirations in the work field, they sought elsewhere for a suitable bride and housewife. Lenore did not mind. She wasn't looking to marry for status or wealth. When she married, she vowed, it would be for love and love alone.
Her graduation was a success, having earned the required N.E.W.T.s to train as a Healer. She applied for an internship at Hogsmeade Hospital and commuted from her home in Kensington for the duration of her temporary position. The time seemed to fly by and she learned more than she ever thought possible in such a short period. She didn't keep much contact with her family during this time - being both extremely busy and lacking any sort of longing to see the sisters she had so little in common with. They corresponded through owls a few times, but she has heard nothing from them in months. And though there is no bad blood between them - on her part at the very least - she finds she does not miss them.
1883 - 1884 | She has just recieved a permanent post as Healer in the Potions and Plant Poisoning department of the hospital and is looking into a private residence in Hogsmeade to be closer to her work and her passion.
Personality: Lenore is bold, stubborn, and sharp as a whip. And though these attributes could very well get a woman into a lot of trouble, they are balanced by her patient and gentle nature. She usually thinks before she speaks - though that is not always the case, particularly if someone has managed to ruffle her feathers. She's slow to anger, but quick to settle any grievances and she is extremely loyal to those who earn it. Being middle class and half-blood, she lacks any harsh judgments on either and will always give everyone the benefit of the doubt upon first meeting them. She respects life in all its forms and would never be needlessly cruel to any creature. Overall, she has the potential to be the best of friends or the worst of enemies.
Sample Roleplay Post: Ingenue was not exactly a world traveler. She traveled when necessary and that was it. It just happened that this trip was necessary. Not only did she very much want Stefano Angelotti as a contact, a quidditch match was the perfect opportunity to do some valuable research into the current competition her investments faced. Brooms. They were not particularly interesting in and of themselves - nor was quidditch, really. Not in her mind. She was more interested in exercise of the mind than of the body. Sports didn't do it for her. So it was with ulterior motives that she accepted Stefano's gracious invitation to witness an international quidditch game. Much to her chagrin, Stefano had been unable to attend - some business engagement or other - but at the very least, she was able to see what the players seemed to require out of their equipment.
The game passed in a series of blurs. Ingenue was too busy studying the flying to really keep score or care who the victor was - she didn't really even know who was matched against who. She sat silent and attentive throughout the whole affair, as immovable as a marble sculpture up to the very end. Only when the players had dismounted and were streaming off the field did she gaze around at the stands, which were now quickly emptying. And she noticed that the fans all dressed in red seemed rather displeased. She supposed that settled the matter of who won.
Not wanting to fight the crowds or vie for a respectable distance between bodies, Ingenue remained seated until the mass of witches and wizards had bled out into the streets, leaving the field quiet and still. She had just risen from her seat when she noticed a lone figure on the grass below. Intrigued - wouldn't the player want to celebrate his victory with his team? - Ingenue made her graceful way down the stairs and out onto the field, taking her time, not fretting about whether he would leave or not. If he was there when she arrived, she would take the opportunity to inquire further about his preference in speed or agility. And if he was gone... It was probably a sign.
But he was there.
Smoothing her expression into one of polite disinterest, she stopped herself a few feet in front of him, knowing she didn't need a chaperone to speak to this man, but preferring introductions be made by acquaintances. Her lips curved slightly.
"Bon soir, Monsieur," she greeted, dipping her head slightly in greeting. "My name is Madame Ingenue Moreau. Might I 'ave zee pleasure of making your acquaintance?"
He was big. Tall and broad and covered in scruff. Ingenue was used to the groomed men of the city, not this rugged specimen in front of her. Despite her slight discomfort, she held herself confidently, regally. Appearance first. Feelings last.
