Appearance:

Begonia’s face lacks the roundness of her sisters’, with her somewhat pointer chin and nose. Her lips are also more “angled”, with a prominent cupid bow. Her two front teeth are also rather prominent and as her father sometimes says, she “looks like a bunny”. She’s blonde and brown eyed and stands at five feet even. Having been dressed by a governess all her life, Begonia has yet to develop her own clothing style, though she is rather fond of the colour white as well as putting flowers in her hair. She’s right handed.

History:

March 5, 1869: Begonia is born to Gilbert and Gardenia. Just like the sisters before her, she gets a flower name.

1870: Gardenia dies after delivering a stillborn boy. Beggie is too young to remember much, though.

1873: Begonia’s father remarries. Having almost no memory of her biological mother, the toddler rather clings to the “new mother”. Hortensia however has little interest in her step-children, so it’s as good as having no mother.

1874: Begonia’s first half sibling is born, Esther.

Spring of 1875: Amaryllis marries Christian Veil.

Autumn of 1875: Instead of going to Hogwarts, Zinnia (along with Iris and Begonia) is sent to the country home under the pretext that she had a “cold”. An elderly governess is then employed for the girls, who would serve as the only adult presence in their lives.

July, 1878: While she and the governess were having a stroll through the garden Begonia went to collect some flowers nearby, not realizing that the governess had wandered off. Due to the woman’s bad hearing (cause by her age, no doubt), screaming doesn’t work. She then displays her first sign of magic, by making a glowing path to the nearest person --the gardener-- appear on the grass.

September, 1878: Neither Iris is sent to Hogwarts, as her father says that it wouldn’t be fair for her to do so when Zinnia hasn’t. Both of the girls are gifted a wand for their birthdays.

1880: Just like the two sisters before her, Begonia isn’t sent to Hogwarts. Begonia, however, is not particularly heartbroken, as going to Hogwarts would mean departing from Zinnia and Iris who, at this point, have become her two closest (and possibly only) friends. She’s gifted a wand for Christmas.

Summer of 1884: Amaryllis as well as almost her entire family are killed by the plague. The other Fincher sisters remain largely unaffected by both the plague and fire of Hogsmeade, given their isolated lifestyle in the countryside.

September, 1884: The Fincher sisters are all sent to the Pendergast School for Young Roses. Begonia is too polite to protest but she still doesn’t take that well to the change as she was used to only her sisters’ company for too long.

Personality:

• It is common for children to display monophobia, but the phobia has followed Begonia to her current years. It is largely caused by her life in “exile”. For all that the Fincher country home was a lovely building, it was also perhaps too big and empty for three girls, a governess and a small number of servants. As it is common for such houses, there would be weird sounds caused by the wind and the old wood and such.

Begonia couldn’t stand being on her own. She’d strive to always have at least one other person wherever she went. As a child, she even had trouble falling asleep if there wasn’t another person in the room with her. Nowadays, she can stand being on her own if she can hear people from other rooms and such, but she still feels a vaguely threatened and vulnerable when she’s on her own. Due to this phobia of hers, she might often come off as rather clingy.

• Despite being in her teens, Begonia may often behave in a childlike manner. Like a child, she’s afraid of being left on her own. She’s also afraid of the dark and would probably believe in stories that a house is haunted and such. She doesn’t really behave immaturely, but she definitely has a childlike innocence to her.
