Appearance:

Mary is a brunette with brown eyes. Her skin is quite tan due to having often worked outdoors for the past few years. She stands tall for a woman at five feet, six inches. Her build is best described as being athletic despite her generous amount of feminine curves. Mary wears clothing that is practical for her career while maintaining propriety. Her wand hand is her right hand.

History:

January 1, 1858 - Mary is born to a pair of middle class muggles in London, England. Mary is a quiet child that rarely fusses, a trait that stays with her as she grows up.

1867 - Marys first signs of magic consist of summoning a jar of preserves off of a high shelf. Her mother walked in on the moment causing the jar to crash to the floor. The incident was explained away as the jar having fallen over though Mary continuously wonders about it.

1870-1874 - A man comes to their doorstep during the summer and explains that Mary is a wizard. Of course, the family do not believe him at first as they are all of the sensible, logical sort, young Mary included. In the end, the man performs a small bit of magic which is enough to convince the Marsdens of the mans validity and they marvel about the fact magic exists, quite amazed by Marys talent.
That September, Mary goes off to Hogwarts and is sorted into Gryffindor. Over the years, Mary proves to be a practical and responsible young witch. She always does her homework, helps tutor students that need help with subjects that she excels in and is active in most class discussions. Mary manages to maintain a balance of study, socializing and club activities that make her first years at Hogwarts quite pleasant.

1874-1877 - Mary is surprised and pleased to recieve a prefects badge over the summer. She does not boast about her achievement though she takes her new duties quite seriously. Mary manages to gain a reputation as being a fair and just prefect, not allowing prejudices or her personal friendships influence her evaluation of situations that arise now and then. It thus comes as no surprise when Mary manages to maintain her badge for the final years of her education. During her seventh year, Mary is thrilled to have the honor of being Head Girl. Once more, she takes her accomplishment with quiet grace.

1877 - Mary graduates and debuts into society. Sadly, this is also the same year that chaos happens when muggles discover magic. Mary manages to stay safe due to the fact that her parents friends believed she was simply off at some boarding school.

1878 - Mary attempts a season as a debutante but quickly finds that she is
seemingly an undesirable wife due to her height. Deciding that the debutante life isn't for her, Mary enters the curse breaking program and starts working with an independently operating curse breaker as his apprentice. She is mostly given menial tasks at first due to her gender and the fact that the man thinks she is just another debutante looking to be rebellious. After about half a year of putting up with it, Mary manages to convince her so called mentor to let her prove her worth. She succeeds in doing so and her mentor actually becomes useful to her.

1881 - Mary keeps working with her mentor a bit past the time when she manages to become recognized as curse breaker in her own right due to the lost six months at the start of their partnership. Later the same year, Mary moves on from being an apprentice and starts practice as a freelance curse breaker. Mary spends the next few years traveling and doing curse breaker stuff.

1884 - Mary and her family manage to avoid the fire and plague due to living in London, England. Having recently returned to England, Mary decides to spend some time at home.
