Potions was, without a doubt, hands down, Alfred's second best subject. Herbology being the first. Really he enjoyed any subject that would ultimately save lives, the most notable exception being DADA (he didn't understand the aggressiveness). On this particularly beautiful day, when all Alfred wanted to do was garden, he was stuck in a potions lesson with the Gryffindors. If only they could do potions outside.
They had been assigned partners already, and Alfred didn't recognize the girl he was assigned to. He didn't recognize most people, for his experience with others was limited, but he particularly didn't recognize this girl. She was short, too. Just peachy. Why wasn't anyone at Hogwarts tall? That being said, she was quite pretty. Alfred blushed a bit, as he often did.
"Hello," he said stiffly to the brunette, and his eye was immediately caught by something. He could see scars up and down the side of her neck, and he couldn't help but ogle them for a moment. After a split second he tore his eyes away, never one to be rude. "Let's get a table, shall we? What're we brewing?" he asked hastily, stumbling over his own two feet to get to a table.
