The Hogwarts Coming Out Ball later that would take place in the end of that month had brought a boom of business for House of Lytton. In fairness, they had been busy with coming out ballgowns since February, if not the very first days of his fashion house’s establishment. And Marcus didn’t mind that in the slightest, because if all the debutantes were pleased this year (which they would), then they’d see them return from wedding dresses and the like later. And, next year, they’d get even more customers.
He had been working on the dress of one Miss Flyton, who would be having a private ball later in the summer and thus had more time to get a dress on, when his secretary informed him of Miss Morgan’s arrival. House of Lytton was new enough that he was still in the search of talents, and this Miss Morgan seemed like she’d have a lot to offer.
Once the introductions were made and his secretary brought in some tea, it was time for business. “We can begin with reviewing some of your designs, Miss Morgan,” he kindly told the blonde. His tone was professional, but cordial.

Erin had worn one of her own designs. It had seemed sensible, when the very point of today was to promote her creations, and though mourning (her father had been one of the Ministry's casualties) had complicated matters she had finally settled upon a design cut from rich, elegant silk. For all intents and purposes it was a simple design, with a fashionably crafted bustle, but Erin rather thought the success of the piece lay in the adornments—in the elegant embroidery and delicate beading. It showed precision and innovation, and The House of Lytton would need both in any fashion designer Mr. Lytton chose to employ.
She had been nervous, a state which had only been compounded by her recent loss, but Mr. Lytton’s manner put her immediately at ease and she nodded as turned to the first page in her leather sketchbook. After all, she could only try her best! “This was a commission by a Mrs. Paget, a socialite in New York. I’ve always found the Americans to be rather forward-thinking, and I was inspired by in my designs.” She reached out, tracing her finger over a rather bold—though by no means provocative—neckline. “The beading, I thought, made it rather more feminine.”
*pretend this shit is realistic Bex did her dissertations on American heiresses and Victorian intellectuals and definitely not fashion >>
Erin has an American accent but the occasional word will sound Irish.

So far, Marcus liked what he was seeing. Miss Morgan's design could be deemed somewhat bold by some, but one could hardly blame her for the requests of her customers. Marcus had been forced to design "atrocities" himself. Like a polka dot tea gown for one particular Mrs. Gwanaelle Malfoy. But Mrs. Malfoy was a wealthy woman and apparently had a young daughter to loved fashion, so it was in his best interests that she'd enjoy his services.
He carefully looked over the design, but when he opened his mouth he said nothing about it. Instead:
"I've always enjoyed working with Americans! So forward-thinking, like you said yourself! It's like they secretly live in the future, though it's truly the other way around timezone wise! Tell me, have you worked for a Mrs. Helena Decker? I had the chance to design a dinner gown for her when I was staying in Chicago three years ago, and I daresay she was truthfully regarded as a style icon of the wizarding society there!"
