SEPTEMBER 29TH 1885
ROXANNE
new novel by American novelist James Isaac Havers |
When I spoke to Mr Havers the other day about his novel, he simply responded, “Just read it, and you will see.” No other comments were made. I was going to not read it out of spite, but the editor made me and while I wanted to punch him in the face, that would make me lose my job. So I read the book. It was terrible.
Roxanne is the story of a (strangly named) young woman young woman who wants to be the perfect wife and mother. I expected it to be like Jane Austen, a mildly frigid tale of intrigue and country life. No. The whole story revolves around the young Roxanne, who lives in the midwest of America, and her learning “wifely skills”. First _____________________________________________________________ | she learns embroidery, then to perfect household spells, and a whole array of other skills. It was so boring.
I do believe the point of the book is to instill womanly virtues in the young girls of the wizarding world. But it is so terrible.
Please don’t buy it. Please let Mr Havers die in poverty. AUTHOR: GULLIVER DORAN |
