OCTOBER 29TH 1885
POOR LIVES MATTER
Letter to the Editor |
As I write this, it has been one week since the report of thethird murder in the slums of Hogsmeade, and the grapevine would suggest that there have been more since. Why, then, is there so little news surrounding these fatalities? I think it is high time that the Auror Office, The Daily Prophet, and society at large begin to appreciate that lives are not worth less simply because they have less. Slum residents keep your community clean. They tend to your houses, to your children. They grow and _____________________________________________________________ |
make your food, some heal you when you are sick. Many women are trained in aiding childbirth. They do all of these things and so much more and for what? A meager pay that will never be enough to see them move to safer pastures. It is time to stop treating such violent crimes as par for the course and start looking for and treating their cause. Lack of education. Poor maintenance. Lack of manpower. The poor may not have much, but they deserve at least a safe roof over their heads. AUTHOR: A CONCERNED CITIZEN |
