For the first time in over a year, Sophie left the only place she had known since escaping from her captors. She tried not to flinch at the loud noises. Hearing them from the safety of her home was one thing... but being out in the middle of the noise was another thing completely.

Being distracted by the noises, she stumbled into someone and scrambled back in shock. "S-sorry." she said weakly.

The hustle and bustle of the city wasn’t something that really phased Darby- being friends with Fidelia meant that he was quite literally bomb proof. A cannon of confetti could have gone off next to his ears and he probably would have only blinked.

Needing to run some errands before work, the wizard had grabbed an apple, that was currently lodged in his mouth, hog-roast style, whilst reading the letters that had arrived that early. Mostly important looking ones he didn’t understand and was therefore hoping weren’t actually that important.

Darby barely registered someone walking into him as he frowned over the smudges of ink, though he did look up when it became clear they were speaking to him. “Huh?” He asked, pulling the apple from his mouth after taking a bite, and shoving the papers into one hand.

Sophie wrung her hands nervously. If she'd been paying attention (especially after she had stumbled into him!) she would have noticed he hadn't really seemed bothered by her. "S-sorry." she repeated, her words just as weak as they had been the first time she spoke.

”Oh, right. For?” He asked after a pause, eyebrow raised quizzically. The girl seemed awfully uncomposed, but his mind was frankly elsewhere. Darby took another bite of his apple.
