"Are you always this forward?" He asked teasingly since it would be a very short thread if he just ignored her entirely. — Tobin Cartwright in Take A Peek
Did you know? Churchgoers and worshippers had to endure a foul stench during prayers due to the amount of bodies often stored within the vaults of churches and chapels.
Mrs. Whitledge had thought it was high time for her daughter to get another pet. Of course, Honey wasn’t too happy to find out that she had to leave Mister Carter Fluffy during the course of her education at Hogwarts. Why wouldn’t they allow rabbits? They were adorable, fluffy and harmless. She now imagined the school’s headmaster as a sad person who disliked harmless creatures.
Her mother, brother and her where currently at the pet shop looking around. This was probably the first time where she agreed with Knight on staying home. It felt like she was betraying Carter if she bought a new pet but she didn’t want to be lonely at school either. She had wondered off alone to part where they displayed the Owls when she saw someone else looking at the pets. “Hello!” she greeted cheerfully at the girl. “Are you buying a pet too?”
Irene had been given permission, but under strict instructions not to buy anything other than a rat, a cat or an owl, and despite what she had thought when she had come to the shop she was having a difficult time deciding between her three options. She had been standing in the shop for more than 20 minutes, walking back and forth between the various cages trying to decide which type of pet - before she even got to which specific animal she should get. She knew going away to school was going to be hard but she never expected this.
As she stood examining one row of cages, she was joined by a girl who looked about her age. She seemed nice, and very cheerful when she asked if Irene as going to school to. She nodded back, her previously careworn face breaking into a broad grin. 'Yes!' she trilled excitedly. 'This september, I'm trying to pick out my pet but this is harder than deciding which house I want to be in!! '
“I’m an incoming first year too and so is my brother.” She replied excitedly. Finally she knows someone else other than her brother who will go. The thought of leaving home scared her but if she knew some other girls maybe it won’t be so scary.
And she was relieved when the girl was also having a hard time to pick, “I know, right? I already have a pet at home but my siblings at told me they don’t allow rabbits at Hogwarts.” Which was really frustrating for Honey but there wasn’t anything that she could do, unless she can find a way to sneak carter in but She didn’t want to get in trouble before she got sorted. “Do you have an idea of what sort of pet you’ll buy? I was thinking of an owl since I’ve been told that they are smart but ..”she paused for a moment to glance at a caged half-kneazel cat. “Cats are wonderful too.”
'oh are you twins?' she squealed, that was exciting! 'Do you have other brothers and sisters in Hogwarts?' she asked, 'My older sister and brother are there.' She was so glad to be able to meet a few people before she went to school - it would make the first few weeks alot easier if she knew a few people that she could talk to.
Irene turned her head back to the cage, 'I heard girls over there' she said gesturing to some older girls who were talking excitdely in a corner, 'saying that Owls were grown up pets' she mused 'and I'd like a grown up pet, but they don't get to stay in the dorms with you and I sort of want something I can cuddle.' She bit her lip, Irene wanted very badly to be grown up, she wanted to be exactly like the elegant ladies in lovely dresses who came to the hotel for visits but at this moment that desire and her 11 year old brain were very much at war.

“Yes, Irish twins to be exact. We were born a few months apart but unlike most twins, my brother and I don’t have a lot in common.” She giggled. At first she dreaed pet shopping but her feelings had done a 180 flip all thanks to her companion. “I have a brother and three sisters at hogwarts. My brother is also prefect for his house.” She chirped. What was Handsome’s house called again? “Umm.. what’s it called, You know the one with the lion symbol... Gryffinsomething.” She was really forgetful about information sometimes but she’ll probably remember all of the house names once September was nearby.
Owls being a grown up pet was cool for the 11 year old. She might feel older and taller than she was if they were to buy it. “Really? Then maybe when we are old enough,we should buy an owl too,” Because you can’t have too many pets according to Honey. “Oh I’m so sorry, How rude of me. I’m Honey Whitledge but you can call me Honey.” She introduced herself with a curt bow. She didn't even bother to have the girl call her Miss Whitledge. Why would she? They were clearly friends now and there was no use on hiding her ridiculous name.
Irene didn't know what Irish twins were, this new little girl that she was meeting didn't sound like she was from Ireland...her father had some employees who were from there and they didn't sound anything like this girl. But still it was good that she would have someone to enter the school with, nicer still to have so many family there for support, she supposed she had Holliday and Somersby but she wasn't very close to either.
'Gryffindor!' she shouted excitedly, as the other struggled to find the house name 'I really hope I'm in that house, the colours are the nicest', it was true, the red and gold of the house colours were so pretty, and the lion was a cool symbol. 'Or ravenclaw! The blue and silver are so nice!'. Irene stopped and blushed at just how unladylike, and overly enthusiastic she was being.
'Irene Fudge' she said in a suitable chastened tone, curtsying to her new friend
A lot of people (or children rather) misunderstood what irish twins were. Most of them would ask why she didn’t have an accent. Honey was used to it since though. Irish twinning aside, the girl was super excited to go to Hogwarts especially now she has a new friend.
Hun Bun flushed lightly at her struggle at remembering the names but continued to talk. “Pleased to meet you! ” [b]]She was really glad to meet Miss Irene. She did not have trouble socializing however facing a lot of new people intimidated Honey. [b]“Green and silver looks pretty too! But I heard that mean students in that house are mean." She'll probably not make any from in there, she thought. "I’m not a big fan of Black and Yellow but I do think Badgers are cute and my sister said they're very nice.” She rather liked the combination of silver and blue though. “Have you ever asked your siblings how the sorting works?”
She was pleased to have met someone already that she would be spending her school year with. It made the prospect of the journey to Hogwarts all the less daunting - and it would be nice to know someone that she could talk to in the first few days. Perhaps they could be roommates if they ended up in the same house -but she was rather getting a head of herself, and she didn't express this aloud, lest the other girl think her overly strange, and not wanting to be friends any longer because it was very presumptuous.
Irene nodded solemnly 'they said they prick your arm with a needle and test your blood for magic, if you don't have enough they send you home. They said that lots of children from their year were sent home for not being strong enough to withstand the training.'. Irene had to admit that she did worry about the sorting, None of her siblings had ever had any trouble in school, and if she wanted to be a debutante, she needed to complete her schooling, as there was little chance of her father paying for an individual coming out ball. 'My father says they are telling stories to scare me, but I don't know! They must do something to sort you, and their explanation seems as true as any! Otherwise there would be muggles in the school, and they wouldn't be able to stop them!'
The sorted sounded painful and not at all exciting. Honey didn’t really like being pricked and the fact that a lot of students got sent home was daunting. What if she failed her magical training and got sent home? Would her mother and siblings hate her for it? Her governess had always praised her for doing a good job in their lessons (though she had to admit that Knight was still smarter than her). “We won’t find out until we go to Hogwarts.”
Then again a lot upper class girls did not need to finish Hogwarts. She had heard some were sent to a finishing school at Irvingly but her siblings had influenced her to grow up with a career in mind. She didn’t have anything specific yet but she wanted it to be exciting and the adventurous type. “Our sibling had gotten through it; I believe that we can survive it too.”
’Very true!’ Irene said with a smile, and straightened slightly where she stood, ’I am sure we are every bit as good as our brothers and sisters.’ she let out a small laugh. A puppy that had been clambering out of a nearby cage scampered up to the pair of girls and started playing around their feet, biting and nipping at irenes shoe laces in an attempt to gain their attention.
’I do wish they would allow us to bring all sort of animals to Hogwarts, I mean a cat or an owl would be fine but I’d love something more exciting like a Fwooper, or something pretty.’ she bent down to pet the puppy, thinking that it was a pity that dogs were not permitted. ’I definitely don’t want a rat! They are so horrid and scary, whenever Papa sees any he sends the groundskeeper out with a pellet gun to kill them, and the cook leaves out poison, I don’t think it would be very nice to have a rat’. Irene gave a small shudder , she had no real experience with the creatures, other than the cooks horror and the groundsmans disdain, but when compared to the sleek and purring cats, and the majestic owls, there didn’t seem to be much competition.
