Cash had the distinct sense that he was looming.*but, like, for a dude, and bat mask
It was somewhat inevitable, when one was dressed as a bat* and had no friends was loitering at a party. Even he recognized that looming at the edges of a party with his hands shoved into the pocket of a literal cape was over-dramatic. He had tried to position himself as far as possible from the out-of-tune ghost quartet, and was sipping at a sort of pumpkin-ale-monstrosity. Privately, he thought that this would be a lot more fun with Angie, who had likely been invited because everyone was, but he couldn't find her if she had attended.
It also would have been more fun if he still had friends. Where was Cornelia when he needed her? There was Ellory, but Ellory was a debutante now, and thus frequently busy with Her Future and Parties, and he wasn't sure where she was, assuming she even was here.
Somewhere along the line, looming had turned into sulking. Cash probably could have kept sulking up for a very long time, but the creeping sense of being watched started to creep up his spine. He tightened his grip on his drink. This was why he was determinedly avoiding the ghost quartet; it was creepy. But it apparently wasn't the only creepy thing. His shoulders hunched up, almost involuntarily.
Cash turned around very slowly. He didn't recognize the starer with their mask on, but they were sort of obvious, (if one assumed they were being stared at, at least.) With a tone somewhere between 'supercilious' and 'confused,' he asked, "Can I help you?"

Having already crossed paths with Ellory and not wanting to do so again, Tig had walked as far as possible from the other girl without walking straight into the forest to her doom. That said, Tig thought the creatures in the forest were probably better company than the likes of Ellory and Tiberius. Where was Brynn? ![]() ![]()

Oh, good, it was Tiberius' wife. Cash could have lived without this encounter, but he also knew that it could have been worse - it could have been Tiberius. Antigone was just mildly unpleasant, comparatively, and she really only bothered him because she bothered Ellory.

Tig squinted through her mask. That had to be Tiberius' cousin, the one that played quidditch. Merlin, his family was everywhere, there was no escaping them! ![]() ![]()

Cash made a horrible face, although he supposed that it likely lost its effect under the mask. "Merlin, no," he said, "I would never. I play for the Cannons."

Did he have some sort of problem with the Ballycastle Bats? Now that she thought about it, he surely couldn't have been a Bat without her remembering, they were her favorite team. Her favorite British team anyway, she would always prefer the Bigonville Bombers of her home nation - they always ranked well and Tig's very first live quidditch match had been one of theirs. ![]() ![]()

He made a scoffing noise. "Well we're a much better team, for one," Cash said. He had very little interest in getting along with Tiberius' wife for a multitude of reasons, and enough relatives that he could talk to other people at events if he pissed her off enough. He was not even particularly scared of her husband anymore.
He took a sip of his drink. "Do you follow Quidditch?" Cash asked skeptically.

"Yes, I do," she replied tartly, annoyed by his tone of voice. Except she hadn't done so closely in over a year, she had no idea what the league standings were last at. "I suppose it's only natural to think your own team is the best." Tig just stopped herself from adding 'even when they're not' on the end. She had never particularly liked or disliked the cannons, but now she would probably have to dislike them on principle. The same could be said of Cassius Lestrange whom she still knew very little about, but she was hardly developing a good impression of him the longer she spent in his company. ![]() ![]() |
