Ben didn't have the highest opinion of marriage, generally speaking--it seemed like the sort of thing that stuffy society types did to continue their long and prestigious lineages, which he had no interest in. Occasionally it seemed to work out in the best interest of those involved--like in the case of Art and Dez--but there was certainly no chance of that happening, in his opinion, if the folks making the decision to enter into the questionable sacrament of matrimony weren't even the bride and groom, but rather their parents. Ben wouldn't have trusted his parents to make any decision for his general happiness, were they still alive--they hadn't really seemed to prioritize that much when they'd been among the living--and tended to think that all wealthy families were more or less exactly like his had been.
