The little girl had been thrilled by the chance to attend a ball like all the grown up women did, even if it was a 'mock' ball and she was still a little young to enjoy it fully. Still she'd been allowed a new pretty dress with white and black and fancy little red ribbon with matching ones in her pale blonde hair that along with her pale skin distinctly marked her as a Malfoy. She felt pretty like her stepmother looked when she went out to balls.
Now here, however, she didn't know what to do. She wasn't to well versed at dancing at such a young age and she didn't know that many others honestly. So unlike the other children, she didn't seek out her friends but rather found herself a chair in which she could watch everyone.

Serpentine is a parselmouth, but your character likely wouldn't know this unless they are related to her. They might, however, notice she carries her pet snake with her.
