    Appearance:
Barnabas is a tall man, nearly 6” foot and rather slender for his age— nevertheless, his broad-shoulders and towering appearance enhances his superiority in almost any situation. With a very pronounced and Roman nose, his good breeding is evident in the bust-like quality of his portrait; very defined, sharp and full of contempt. To add to his imposing figure, Barnabas has a set of rather cold, icy eyes that are disconnected entirely from his smile.

In the fashion department, like any responsible Malfoy, Barnabas keeps his family’s reputation of impeccable and expensive wardrobe safe with his long, swishing robes that are tailored to both give the air of sophistication and regality. Often times, they are black with silver or emerald interior, though he has been known to wear white. Almost always equipped with a tie, they are patterned to resemble scales or feathers, and usually vary between shades of grey, metallic silver and black.

Due to a dragon-incident, Barnabas unfortunately walks with a limp and employs a long, blackwood cane to assist him. The cane is topped with a dragon head, made from iron, and hides a wand, though not his true wand— in fact, it is the ancestral Malfoy wand that has been passed from generation to generation. On the subject of dragons, Barnabas wears cufflinks that are fashioned from the very dragon who injured him; they are scales from the dragon’s belly and resemble iron. Barnabas is also left-handed.
    History:
1814 | Barnabas is born to Septimus and Victoire Malfoy, their third born child and only son. Instantly, Barnabas is treated above his two sisters, given he is the heir.
1815 | Barnabas performs his first sign of magic; making his father’s albino peacock shed its feathers.
1826 | Attends Hogwarts School and is instantaneously sorted into Slytherin.
1828 | Becomes the Slytherin Quidditch team’s Seeker.
1829 | Barnabas earns the title of prefect.
1830 | Barnabas is promoted to Captain of the Slytherin Quidditch Team.
1831 | Incredibly proud to be named Head Boy.
1832 | Following his graduation from Hogwarts, Barnabas joins the Ministry of Magic in the Department of Magical Co-Operation.
1835 | Too ambitious for his own good, Barnabas is successfully appointed by his cousin Radolphus Lestrange— the newly elected Minister for Magic— as the Senior Undersecretary to the Minister for Magic.
1841 | After a highly decorated and fruitful tenure as the Senior Undersecretary, Barnabas’ reign is cut short at the sudden death of Radolphus Lestrange. Acting in his place until a successor was chosen, Barnabas excluded his name from the running due to his own lack of confidence in his age and achievements.
1841 | Following the election of the next minister, Barnabas managed to blackmail and force the then-Department Assistant Head of Magical Co-Operation to resign, filling the space himself.
1844 | In another surprise resignation, the Department Head of Magical Co-Operation resigns, just as Barnabas turns thirty.
1849 | Marries Gwenaelle Pierce, who is seventeen years his junior, in January and has her pregnant by February.
1849 | Not even a year after their marriage, Gwenaelle delivers Barnabas his first heir, Terrell. He is overjoyed to have secured the Malfoy name for another generation.
1854 | After years of miscarriages, Barnabas manages to secure yet another male heir, Gaius.
1862 | Another Malfoy is born, though Barnabas is less excited given it is a girl. She is named Clarissa.
1866 | In one, last final attempt for a third male heir, Barnabas is bitter to have been given another girl, who is named Brynn. Refuses to touch his wife hereafter.
1870 | Purchases various dragon reservations across Europe, as well as a summer home in Scotland, France and Romania. Simultaneously, Barnabas begins to invest in various businesses in Diagon Alley, as well as Gringotts bank, in order to boost his finances.
1872 | Retires as Head of the Department of Magical Co-Operation; applies for and is selected by the Minister for Magic, with the Wizengamot's approval, as a British seat-holder on the International Confederation of Wizards.
1873 | Barnabas is appointed to the Wizengamot.
1874 | On holiday to one of his dragon reservations in Eastern Europe, Barnabas is attacked by a feral Ukrainian Ironbelly, resulting in a permanent limp. He has the dragon murdered and skeleton brought back to his estate in Wiltshire to be made into a trophy. A cane is fashioned and the handle is made in said dragon’s likeness.
1880 | In his first election— though relatively smaller—  since his campaign with Radolphus Lestrange, Barnabas is elected by the international Confederation of Wizards as Supreme Mugwump.
1884-1885 | Is dealt a hard blow when his heir, Terell, dies. Also, his daughter, Clarissa, passes as well, though he isn’t nearly as depressed over her as he is with his first born. Is eventually soothed by the idea of at least have the spare, Gaius. Additionally, Terell’s daughter passes with her parents, though Barnabas is pleased to see his grandson survive.
1885 | Despite his family grievances, Barnabas is awarded various successes within the International Wizards Council, including numerous dragon-protection laws as well as various anti-muggle pieces of legislation.
1886 | His son, Gaius, actually produces a son, much to Barnabas’ pleasure. Begins to consider the idea of disregarding Terell’s will and  smashing his son’s wardship over Terell’s son, Merlin, and preparing him for heirship.
1887 | After years of investments and forging ties within the Ministry, Barnabas slowly begins to build a potential campaign for Minister for Magic. Currently, Barnabas continues his tenure as Supreme Mugwump of the International Wizards Council.

    Personality:
A pureblood cliche in every sense of the word, Barnabas is a man of extreme arrogance, cruelty and ambition. Of course, he is much more reserved and refined, carrying a strong sense of duty and regality. With this, Barnabas comes across as relatively stern and work-minded, though in the company of most he is rather charming, unless they are noted opposition, then he’s just casual. Being a politician, his mind is only swayed by the ideas that would best benefit both himself and his kind, though he is adaptable to a degree.

His family is his life and legacy; Barnabas deludes his own ambition by thinking that it is for the furtherment of his family name. Of course, he doesn’t dislike anyone in his family, but he is excessively stern with his remaining son, Gaius, and lets his wife deal with the remaining daughter, Brynn, who seems rather unfortunate when it comes to moving out of the house.

In truth, while he did seem to value his firstborn son over his second, Barnabas found Terell incredibly irritating and cocky, and often wondered where he went wrong. As for Gaius, he expects more from him, just because. The daughters were never his favourites. He didn’t want them— again, his wife was to deal with them.

Despite the fact that Barnabas has been a servant to the Ministry of Magic for a majority of his life and his ambitions have been aligned with its survival and reputation, most of his accomplishments have been ones that benefit himself as well. He serves himself, and his family, in a quest for both power and influence, and is unafraid of exercising his strength to achieve it; for instance, Barnabas is fond of both blackmail and pressuring his political opponents into submission— it is, after all, how he became Head of the Department of Magical Co-Operation.

While he is ambitious in the world of politics, Barnabas is also invested in all areas of power, including magic. A guarded secret, the Malfoy manor contains tomes of archaic branches of magic deemed unacceptable for public use; developing a keen interest in the Dark Arts in his youth, Barnabas has become naturally curious in various areas of magic.

Barnabas does have a temper, though it is one that requires consistent nudging to become explosive (see dragon incident), otherwise he is quite reserved and well-mannered, though full of snark and quips. His calmness has been known to intimidate and come across as icy.

Of course, with his blood status, comes his defining characteristic of bigotry; Barnabas is a fervent believer in blood superiority.

An accomplished legilimens, Barnabas isn’t afraid to invade the minds of both his family, but also those who work beneath him. Of course, he’d just call it intuition.
