    Numbers Game [OWL Arith.]

Valentine wrote the following on the blackboard behind him before class.

    Letters & Correspondence

    STUVWXYZ

He waited as the students filed in. He gave proper greetings and proceeded to write his own name, writing the value (212) next to his name. "Now, we want to reduce our numbers to a single digit. Mine is five. Five is the number of instability and imbalance. Five points will be given to the first three people to share their single digits and what their number is."

He looked around the room. "Who is first?"

I used this site to calculate his number!

Hudson enjoyed Arithmancy. He'd always liked games and puzzles and the class assignments had that feel.

He'd done today's assignment enough times to know what his number was. He still wrote his calculations down, in case the professor asked him how he'd come to his conclusion.

"My number is eight," Hudson said. "It's the most unpredictable number. Those with an eight could either be really succesful, or fail miserably in life." Hudson liked to think that the former would be the case for him!

"Seven," Germander stated with a frown, having scribbled his name out and added the numbers up. "Sevens are perceptive, understanding, and bright. They enjoy hard work and challenges and are serious and scholarly and are interested in mysteries and things unknown. They can also be pessimistic, sarcastic, and insecure."

Most of it seemed fairly accurate, though he wouldn't say he was sarcastic or insecure. Though maybe he might have been if he came from another family. Growing up seeing family members disappear when some scandle happened didn't leave room for being insecure or he'd have been torn apart years ago.

"Five points to both Mr Pine and Mr Macnair," he replied. "Though, Mr Macnair, I would suggest you recount. Would anyone else like to share?"

He looked about the room, hoping someone else would share before he continued, but finding no volunteers proceeded on.

"By using your character numbers, the numbers some of you just found, what else can you determine about yourself?"

Citrine calculated what her number would be and found that it was a six. "According to my number, I'm a person that likes to help people which is pretty true." It was fascinating how close to her personality her number was but some things didn't mesh.
