Appearance: At 6'2'', 170 lbs. Alpheus has a strong and sturdy built. His appearance is often perceived as intimidating, because of his broad shoulders, tall stature, and general gruff appearance. However this first impression is often betrayed by his eyes, which are a soft sea-green, though in different lighting can also appear blue. The vast contrast between his light eyes and dark hair is often alarming at times, for he has a habit of staring at a person for too long. It is also hard to tell what mood he is in for he almost never shows any outward emotion, and has learned to control his body language. His facial features are usually in a placid, neutral state, though it is a rare occasion when he lets a small smile or pleasant grin appear. Another prominent facial feature is his nose; it is long, though straight, with the tip slightly downward, which makes him appear herculean. Alpheus's wardrobe consists of dark grays, blues, burgundies, greens, and slate blacks. He can also be seen wearing his favorite gray top hat, one that was a given to him during his Hogwarts days by his mother shortly before she died. Technically, Alpheus is ambidextrous though when in a hurry writes and uses a wand with his right hand.
History: Alpheus John Blake was Rupert and Mary Blake's firstborn son. The family was overjoyed at the prospect of a successful male heir, and so Alpheus was treated as a little prince. Despite his situation, the little boy was shy and humble by nature. He excelled at Latin and the literary arts. Even to this day Alpheus can often be found writing short poems or stories as a past time. Soon, Alpheus was accepted into Hogwarts and sorted into Ravenclaw, to which his parents were ecstatic. While Alpheus, their only child, was away, Mary craved a second child. Rupert agreed, though Mary did not get pregnant easily. She had many abortions before finally getting pregnant. At the news of a new sibling, Alpheus was reluctant, though soon warmed up to the idea. By the time Alpheus was in his sixth year (for he received the news of a new sibling at the close of fifth year), Mary was already eight months pregnant. One day, Alpheus received a letter that would change his life forever. His mother had entered labor relatively prematurely, and was forced to give birth to her child right there and then due to a cervix abnormality. The labor was difficult and long. Unfortunately, she gave birth to a stillborn baby girl. Four hours later, Mary, too, passed away. Rupert could not be consoled, and he sank into a deep depression. He even began acting as if his wife was still alive. Eventually, he accepted the tragedy and moved on; as did Alpheus. After graduating Hogwarts, he worked in the ministry and climbed his way to the position of Senior Undersecretary to the Minister for Magic. He is currently searching for a wife.
Personality: While his demeanor maybe a bit gruff at first, you should never judge a book by its cover. Alpheus could be described as a gentle soul; kind and compassionate to the less fortunate. He keeps the teachings of humility and honesty that were taught by his mother close to his heart. Alpheus understands that the world doesn't always work that way and that there are many people who are driven by the forces of greed and power, but vows he will never stoop to their level. He doesn't really care what other people may think of him, and often finds to please himself and not others. Alpheus enjoys talking about literature or political affairs, and is very passionate when he speaks about subjects he is well-versed in or feels strongly about.
