Her looks don't promise that she will be a striking beauty, but she certainly will not be plain. Quite tall for her age (4'6"), she may be taken for an older child upon first glance. However, if one were to study her features for a moment, they would find her to still be a child rather than a prepubescent teen. Her brown eyes are pretty but hard, her sweet nature buried deep beneath a calloused layer of emotions. Her golden brown hair is long, reaching to her waist in loose waves. She often keeps pulled back into a braid. Her pretty face is often dirty, though she does try to wash it to make herself more presentable when goes to perform. NadÃge is right-handed.History:NadÃge Alouette Challis was born to Mr. Brockhoist Challis III and his wife, Allyriane, on the last day of September, the 30th. NadÃge's parents had met at Beauxbatons Academy of Magic. The recent widower Challis, a man born of the English upper class with no worry for serious income, decided to return to his "ancestors' homeland" of France, after losing both his wife and child in childbirth, to teach Etiquette to the young students there. He emphasized the importance of proper etiquette and mannerisms to his female students especially, as he feared that their being French would incline them to become Cancan dancers or courtesans rather than proper married women. He honestly hated the French and was truly trying to make them more British. That is, until he met the young Miss Allyriane Monluc. Miss Monluc was a muggleborn witch, an aspect he disliked as he was a blood-purist by influence, from Nice. However, the old widower (55 at this time) was eventually won over (unintentionally, mind you) by the fair Miss Monluc. Although she was muggleborn, her family was wealthy and the woman, a spinster at 27, decided to occupy herself by becoming the music teacher at Beauxbatons.A year later the couple married and the following year, the young Mrs. Challis was able to present a healthy girl to her husband. Mr. Challis was naturally disappointed, although he never said so. However, Mrs. Challis could tell as he only politely regarded his daughter rather than affectionately. Mr. Challis had been anticipating a boy and to his great disappointment, they had birthed a girl instead. Mrs. Challis, however, was delighted with her daughter and was a very loving mother towards the infant. Now a married woman with a baby to care for, Mrs. Challis retired from teaching and focused on raising her family. Mr. Challis continued to work at Beauxbatons, more concerned for the daughters of others than his own. He did, however, come home to visit often. When NadÃge was four, Mr. Challis retired and the family moved to the English countryside. The Challises settled outside of Hogsmeade on the countryside in a grand house. The old man wished to get away from society and his wife contented herself with her husband's decision. They hadn't many friends as the family was quite reclusive and preferred to keep each other company. Their house was large enough to hold an innumerous amount of guests, but instead the vacant rooms became NadÃge's playground. She explored the halls and rooms frequently. Her mother often fretted over her disappearances, but one of the maids or servants were always able to find her before dinner. When NadÃge was six, her father passed away. The diagnosis of his death was heart failure. Unfortunately, a will was never found. Allyriane and NadÃge were stricken of their upper class title and turned out their house by the officials. It was an unfortunate happenstance, but it couldn't be helped without evidence of a will. Thus the two Challis women went from princesses to paupers overnight. The mother-daughter duo moved to Hogsmeade and took up residence in one of the poorer sections of town. Allyriane, greatly accustom to her upper class lifestyle, did not take the change of situation well. Being French (at least, that's what Mr. Challis would say û may he rest in peace) and of a fragile constitution, Allyriane was inclined to illness. She was eventually hired as a private music instructor to the children of a lower-middle class family. The wages weren't astonishing, but they helped keep the mother and daughter afloat. They were able to afford their rent and even food. Allyriane, however, more ready to live as she was had, often spent their wages on food vicariously. They had delicious food, but no one to cook it, as neither had experience in working in the kitchen. NadÃge was more inclined to learn than her delicate mother. Therefore, a routine was established: NadÃge minded the house while Mrs. Challis worked.Their life continued in this routine until last year when Mrs. Challis fell ill with cholera. With Allyriane unable to work, they quickly fell into a more dire state of poverty. Within a month, Mrs. Challis was dead and NadÃge was an orphan. The year that has followed her mother's death has been a difficult one. Without home and family, NadÃge makes her living by singing on High Street or in Padmore Park. At night, she sleeps on the streets of the Slums, finding the safest place possible to sleep.Due to an experience that nearly destroyed her, NadÃge has become wary of people, especially men. Having nearly been raped by one, she doesn't really think that most men are as kind-hearted and good-natured as they make themselves off to be. Her narrow escape was made possible by her first display of magic. She had launched the culprit across the street and into a moldy food cart and she made for a hasty escape. She is presently sleeping off the streets in a ramshackled house, belonging to an old woman named Martha. Martha is often teased with the rhyme as the Old Woman who Lived in a Shoe. She takes in as many children as she can, giving them a safe place to sleep and food, if she can afford it.Personality: Shy/introvertedNaive/gullibleKind-hearted/generousSweet-tempered/lovingCalloused by her life on the streets/wary of menPatronus: UnknownBoggart: The man that tried to rape herAmortentia: Wildflowers, soap, the smell of warm blanketsPlay-By: Xenia IvanishinaSample Roleplay Post:Please see Ezra Fairclough's profiles for a sample roleplay post. :) Thank you!Out of CharacterName: HymnAge: 27Contact: PM to Gretchen LestrangeOther Characters: Ambrose Greengrass & Gretchen LestrangeHow did you hear about us?: RPG-D
