Appearance: At 5'5'' it's not generally Briar's height that brings attention to her in a room, not that she's ever really been interested in how tall she is. She's often wished that she possessed curves but it wasn't to be and instead she's slender and willowy which she has to work hard to maintain (if she eats too much she very easily puts on weight). Her face is narrow but that matched the rest of her including her thin blonde hair and blue eyes. In many ways she can be seen as a typical english rose and has been called so in the past. Her clothes are normally expensive and detailed, she likes to look good after all but she does own a few plainer items for everyday wear. Her wand hand is her left.
History: Briar was the first daughter of the Lovegoods, born several years after her older brother and unexpected. Her parents had almost given up hope since her older brother was conceived so quickly. However soon a bossy little girl was dominating the nursery and quickly causing a headache for her nannies. By the time her little sister arrived she was firmly in charge. Even when the governesses arrived she managed to only learn what she wanted to learn.
When she started Hogwarts it took the sorting hat next to no time to sort her into Ravenclaw and she instantly found her place in the generally quiet house. And when lessons started she quickly learnt that she couldn't do exactly what she wanted anymore and had to learn to quickly adapt.
By the time she started her sixth year she had firmly established her place in her group of friends, her presence and wealth helping to establish her as the leader. She had also managed to gain a handful of admirers how she didn't care too much about. The only person she cared about was her best friend, she wasn't in the same house but they had been friends since childhood. And Briar was in love with her. Her sixth year was all about coming to terms with that and trying to win her over. On Briar's seventeenth birthday she eventually managed to puck up enough courage to ask her to meet in the room of requirement. In the midst of the beautiful garden Briar told her how she felt and then kissed her. The two never talked again.
The next morning the two Lovegood girls were called to the Headmaster's office where they were surprised to see their older brother. He told them that their parents had died last night in a train accident and that they needed to come home at once. For the next few months Briar was in a state of depression, unsure what was going on in the world around her. When she returned to Hogwarts in September she was detirmined to do well for their sake. Most of the year was spent working hard and she was rewarded with almost perfect NEWTs.
The young family decided to move up to Hogsmede soon after it was established and it was there where Briar had her coming out ball and entered society. It didn't take her long to get a proposal of marriage and she didn't hesitate to accept. Despite the fact that it's been a long engagement Briar's perfectly happy at home, she's in no real hurry to be married.
Personality: Briar gives the impression of someone who isn't scared to tell everyone exactly what she thinks, she's well known for telling people the truth they need to hear. However she knows how to control herself and always stops before she becomes insulting - it probably helps that she delivers the truth with a charming smile. She likes to think of herself as a desirable woman and will often flirt although this has changed more recently.
She's an intelligent person and managed to do very well in both her OWLS and NEWTs. She's not just intelligent in that way, she manages to judge people pretty accurately most of the time. There are obviously times when she gets it wrong but she likes to think that she's always right.
No matter what she's detirmined to be independant and happy while keeping up appearances at the same time. She knows that she can't follow her heart all the time.
