Family: ?velyne Gabrielle Lavigne, mother, 36.
Marius Leon Lavigne, father, 38
Anais Nadine Lavigne, 15, sister.
Leon Javert Lavigne, 11, brother.
Appearance: Cosette is of a petite frame but on the tall side. All throughout childhood she was always the shortest of the girls she knew but as she got into her late teens, around fifteen, she sprouted a growth spurt that launched her to be around 5'5". Like other ladies of her class she is 'healthily' thin which in modern standards would make her ghastly thin and considered malnourished. Being from a wealthy family, she is often adorned in rich fabrics in multiple layers with corsets pulled deathly tight, especially the times when they go out. At hogwarts, and sometimes around the house, Cosette is found in rich, but not the best, such as calico or gingham. When she can she avoids the corset like the plague. It's not that she hates them, she just isn't particularly fond of the restriction they put on her movement, she's more of a free spirit. She did go through a phase from the ages of eleven to sixteen where she was a proper lady of society where she scoffed at her childhood behaviour until she came back to it when she was older. She still is proper and abides by the times but she still holds onto that innocence and freedom and tries to embrace it whenever she can, even if it just means forgoing the corset and or wearing only a petticoat and a calico dress. She also sometimes goes back to writing with her left hand as that was what she was born as though it was considered incorrect, even sinister and therefore she was taught to be right handed. As it never really caught on, her parents half gave up and though encouraged (basically forced) to be righthanded in the presence of her parents and others, she was too strongly left handed and her right handed writing was often not as neat and her wand work is often left riddled with mistakes. Though when taught spells from a right handed person's point of view, it took her a little extra time to reverse the direction of the wand movements for her left hand.
History: Marius and Evelyne Lavigne were young loves at Beauxbaton's Academy of Magic, crossing paths in their fifth year there. It was an uncomfortable start of a relationship as Marius was not from the Upper class but more in between Upper and Middle Class. His father worked hard to earn their decent sized home with a house elf and his business soon spanned two countries. However, because Marius was not Upper class bred or had much knowledge of the customs and etiquette of the upper class, Evelyne's parents were not too thrilled with the match. However, they commended Marius and his father's hardworking ethics and manners and respect for Evelyne, that they quickly encouraged the couple even if their plans for Evelyne to marry an older, set man that followed custom for young ladies. Evelyne and Marius were set to marry the summer after they graduated from Beauxbatons and as it was custom for the bride's parents to organise and pay for the wedding, the wedding was as grand as any upper class wedding could be. It was daunting and awe-inspiring for Marius's family at first and really wished that Evelyne's parents had not gone so overboard with the wedding. However, they did not know of upper class customs, and according to Evelyne's parents, the wedding was just a chip off of the block of the wedding it could have been. Their honeymoon was spent in Marseilles, France where Cosette was concieved. Nine months later, at the end of february, a kicking and screaming Cosette entered this world just a week after Evelyne had turned 18.
Like most men of his age, Marius had not yet found a home and was working under his father in his fathers business and knowing this when they married, Evelyne's parents allowed them to live in one of their summer homes that wasn't occupied often. Marius felt forever in their debt and often paid them whenever he could for their house and vowed that they would one day move into a house that he had bought himself. Two years after the birth of Cosette, the family of three welcomed a fourth member of their family, a quiet coming baby named Anais. By the time their son was born, Marius was no closer to moving his growing family than he was six years prior when he married Evelyne. It didn't seem to bother Evelyne's family, though he couldn't tell with the upper class, though he assumed that they would make some indication of their distaste if a distaste was present. It was the summer before Cosette was to attend Beauxbatons when Marius's franchise in England finally got it's big break and after much discussion, as much as it pained them both that Cosette would not be attending the school she had been lusting over all summer, they planned to move to England in March after her 11th birthday soshe would start hogwarts as all other 11 year olds. Cosette was not happy about the move at all, nor was she happy that she would no longer be going to Beauxbatons. She tried to come up with ever excuse she could, suggesting that she stay with grand-mÃre and grand-pÃre Delacroix, Evelyne's parents, Evelyne and Marius would not have it. Packing was simple with magic. All they had to do was shrink their possessions, put an undetectable extension charm on a trunk and then apparate the family to England. It was trickier to apparate to a different country than it was to apparate to another town within the same country. Marius had purchased the house as a Christmas present to his family which was much the same size as they summer home in which they were living in, though much more quiant, comfortable and homey than the Delacroix summer home.
The Lavigne family fit in nicely with the upper class socialites nicely after their move as Mr, Delacroix had a few contacts in England that helped settled the family of five into not only England and their home, but society as well. Cosette settled into Hogwarts as comfortably as could as the people and slight custom differences were unsettling to Cosette but over time she grew to become accustomed to the difference. It was not France and it was something she quickly had to get over. Anaise, didn't have much troubles fitting in as she was still young when they moved and was just starting to get fed the customs of a young lady and proper etiquette and meshing into Hogwarts was not a problem for her, nor for their younger brother. Cosette, when entering Hogwarts slipped into a very lady like manner, behaving properly, focusing on her studies, not chasing after boys like some of the other girls did, she acted like a seventeen year old even when she was eleven. She ditched her childish freedom, innocence and sense of adventure. While she had always been one to find learning to be a priority and loved reading, she delved further into these beliefs to further herself away from the mischievous, childishness of her that clawed at her insides every now and then. She made her mother proud with her accomplishments, her behaviour, her grades, but her parents felt that she was holding back by her sudden change of attitude and occasionally worried that their daughter was not happy.
It was around when Cosette turned fifteen that she realised that she was not happy as the person she was, that she wasn't herself. She was an imitation of every other girl, the girls learning to be perfect ladies, perfect hostesses, perfect wives. Perfect was not something that Cosette believed it. Hell, she was left handed, the first sign that she was definitely not destined to be perfect. "Perfect" people in society were right handed. She no longer cared if her parents were worried about their reputation that she may destroy if she chose to be a little more carefree. If wasn't like she was going to throw all her etiquette training in the garbage and be completely rude or anything. She would still apply it all when needed, but at school, where adults and parents werent around, she let go a little more. She pulled her nose out of the books enough to see the world that she was missing. She started to talk to guys more, as friends, maybe to find a love like that of her parents so she wouldn't have to marry a stuffy old man with heavy pockets. She was sure her parents would approve of whoever she married. Her mother didn't marry an older man with money, she married for love. And if she didn't find love before she was twenty, then she would allow to be set up with an older gentleman. Even if she didn't love the man she married, she wasn't about to forgo marriage completely, she would always have children to love and dote on and teach and care for. As for now, she is seventeen years old, the age of which most girls would be getting married but she is about to enter her seventh year at hogwarts to take her N.E.W.T.S., possibly find love in man who cares not for frivolous things and overall live her life before she is stuck at home being a housewife, a hostess and a mother.
Personality: Cosette is a lot of things, quiet, studious, caring, outspoken, opinionated and carefree. However, as you can see, those last three are not traits of a respectable lady about to come out or any lady at all of society. However, Cosette is not one of normal ladies of society. You can blame her mother for that as she didn't follow proper protocol for a marriage either. Cosette has a temper to, and though you hardly ever see it, if you never do in your life, then you must be a blessed soul.
Quiet, Studious and Caring; This is how most students at Hogwarts, and those who know her from outside Hogwarts would naturally perceive Cosette as it is the side that most people see in her. She is often found tucked in a corner reading a book, at a table doing homework, or in the library perusing the shelves or helping the librarian by putting books away. She isn't much for gossip or talking to others unless it was a solid topic, such as a debate or an opinion on a book her and someone else read or an article in the paper, something along those lines. She feels as though gossip is for younger girls, or the older girls who have no wit about them, jealous and or self conscious so they talk about others behind their back. Cosette had never allowed for any rumours or gossip to exist about her because she never went around doing scandalous things or really anything besides studying or reading. If she did hang around guys, it was not when there were girls around to gossip that she was the school slag or anything of that nature. Not that she cares too much about her reputation, she just cares about her mother and what her classmates would say to their mother and what would get around about Evenlyne's child rearing skills, or as they would see it, lack of skill.
Outspoken and Opinionated Two traits that if a lady has, they are well disguised and never shown out in public. Now, the opinionated part may be shown when discussing gossip, such as the opinion on a certain miss or mrs., or a servant, but that be in the confines of a secluded area with someone of close acquaintance or confidante. Cosette, on the other hand, takes her opinions in regards to debates over books, Daily Prophet articles, current events, etc, not some childish gossip over whether a girl is an utter disgrace to their family or only slight. She also is not afraid to speak her thoughts, whether someone is there to listen or not. She cares not if the public hears her thoughts or approach of a subject, she may voice her opinion on gossip if she is within ear shot of two ladies gossiping about someone, especially a close friend of Cosette. Give her a soapbox and she will gladly take a stand on it. It may not be ladylike, proper, or any of that, but Cosette, does not care. If it is dear to her heart, then nothing will stand in her way or saying what's on her mind.
Temper You are blessed soul, or just tread on eggshells when around Cosette if you have never seen the wrath of her temper. She came into this world kicking and screaming, she went through her terrible twos from the time she was born to eleven years old. Sometimes standing up for something and having been shot down by an invalid or illiterate excuse, or any excuse for that matter will most certainly strike up her temper. Tell her she can't do something because she's a lady, well, she'll make sure you never say that to another lady in your life. She throws a fit if she is tried to be waited on, coddled or any of that nature. She's a spit fire and she got it from her father. You best not get her on bad side, it might be the only side of her you'll see again.

Sample Roleplay Post: A bright saturday had greeted Beauxbatons students though most students prefered to cover their faces with their covers to block out the cheerful sun and on any given day, Emily would have gladly participatedin such an even, except that she had plans for the day. Waking up, groggily, Emily tried to place the time in which she reluctantly removed herself from from the forest and returned to her dorm room that was occupied by herself only. Not that she minded really, as she didn't spend much time in there. It was just a place for her to keep her stuff, got dressed and showered in the girl's bathroom at the end of the hall, which was where the blonde haired girl was currently on her way to after she dragged herself out of the comfort of her four poster bed and rummaged through her trunk (with an undetectable extension charm on it as one of her dresses alone would fill the entire trunk without the charm on it) for a decent summer dress. She'd given up trying to find shoes for the time being, she would find a pair eventually. She wasn't about to walking around Wizarding Paris barefoot, how many odd looks she would receive. It wasn't the weird looks that persuaded her to wear shoes, it was the lack of service that she would receive because businesses required shoes to enter.
Emily, clothes and wash caddy in hand, trodded down to the bathroom to find it void of any human life form. It was nice having the space to herself, however, she knew it would possibly be teeming with girls before she was finished if she didn't hurry herself along. Taking a quick shower was not a problem for Emily as she wasn't like most girls who took ages to get ready. But, she wasn't like those girls who jumped in the shower, came out ten minutes later, got dressed, brushed their teeth and were done. Emily did take care of her appearance though there were many times where she kind of did just that, threw on a dress and called herself done. No sooner had Emily pulled her clothes on did she hear the pattering of another girl's feet and then water running. Gathering her possessions, Emily headed straight for a mirror, hair still up in a towel, turban style. As she did her make up, Emily hummed to herself quietly, not like the girl would be able to hear her over the cascading water, but nonetheless, she hummed quietly as she made a list of absolute necessities when she went out today as well as a list of things she would purchase for her own personal collection, like books. She kept the two lists separately in her heads; things like quills, parchment and ink went in the necessities list while books and a new dress would go on her want list, but things she would get either way.
As she finished her make up, the girl from before joined her at the mirrors but Emily paid no mind to her, continuing to hum. Pulling the towel off her head, her damp curls cascaded down her back and a simple drying spell dried her hair so that her curls were loose and airy. She would need a haircut. She would be very close to her mother's today who could easily cut it for her, but visiting her mother was the last thing she'd ever want to do and the first thing on her list of places to avoid like the plague. Maybe she could just cut it herself. If she did a hack job, there were always spells to correct it. Yes, that was what she would do. That way, she wouldn't have to see her mother at all. Her mother would probably shoo her from the premises before she even had a toe in the door. That was how her mother was and Emily had long accepted her mother's nonacceptance of her own daughter. She didn't even know nor care that Emily had disappeared from school to travel with her cousin for several months. And Emily was perfectly o.k. with that. She didn't need her mother's approval or permission to do anything.
Smiling at the girl, Emily left the bathroom with her nightgown and shower caddy and hand. The clock on her night stand read nine am. Shops were just about to open and Emily still had to get down to the boutiques where she would floo through one of grates there into Paris. Emily, though seventeen hadn't learned to apparate as she could fly everywhere but floo was faster in this case, and less tiresome. Slipping on her jewelry including her amethyst pendant she wore all the time except for when she showered and another necklace as well as a pair of gold earrings, Emily then remembered that she would have to stop at the bancaire to get money out for her shopping excursion, so it worked out that she was flooing from the boutiques. Underneath her bed was where Emily came across her nude pumps as it was her last ditch attempt before she pulled the first pair of shoes if she didn't find that specific pair. Slipping them on her feet and her clutch into her hand, Emily began her descent from the Rouerie tower to the boutiques. Some would ask why she didn't fly. The reason was simple, she wasn't used to wearing heels and she needed to practice if she was about to walk around Paris in them.
Stepping into the grate with a white dress and nude pumps didn't sound like a smart idea but she really didn't care. She wasn't about to wear black on such a hot day, or any other colour, especially since all her other coloured dresses were made of heavy material as well as attract heat. When she stepped out in Rue de Paris, Emily was soot free and just as impeccably clean as she was before she left her dorm room not a half hour ago. Smiling, Emily cast her curls over her shoulder and entered the busy streets of Wizarding Paris. It was a Saturday after all. Emily, lists still in mind, took care of her necessities first including quills, ink, parchment as she was trying to catch back up with her studies. And then it was time to spend her money freely. She had enough of it with her mum's business and their inheritance. She happened to be in a robe shop when she happened to turn around and see the same girl that she had saw in the bathroom that morning. Smiling again at her, Emily took a swatch of fabric and brought it over to the girl saying "This fabric and colour would work so well with your skin"
