Appearance:

Some may call her plain, others may call her cute û Cora has never considered herself beautiful by any means, but that is not to say that others haven't. She has always been very natural, never going to extreme measures to make herself look pretty. As the geneology in her family runs, Cora has been gifted with a fair complexion, long, dark and pin-straight hair, and deep chocolate brown eyes. Some may even describe her eyes as nearly black, the colour in her iris hardly distinguishable from her pupil. Long dark lashes outline her eyes. Her pale skin is dotted with light freckles, especially across her nose and cheeks. And unfortunately for Cora and her often-shy nature, her blushes are painfully obvious. In terms of her body type, Cora has always been thin and a bit lanky, but her average height of five feet and four inches allows this weight to distribute evenly so that while she may be thin, she also looks healthy. She's never really been one to dress in extravagant dresses, although not for lack of them. She comes from a middle class family, but they are from some wealth as well. Not a lot, but enough to provide the children of the family with very nice clothing. She would much prefer something simple and comfortable, although it is not always her choice.

History:

Helena and Archibald Featherbottom had been sweethearts since her fifth year in Hogwarts, his seventh. The minute Archie had set his sights on Helena, he was wrapped around her little finger, both her inner and outward beauty casuing him to fall head over heels throughout their time together. They courted formally until she graduated Hogwarts and became a debutante. Already having secured a job in the Ministry, Archie was of the same class as Helena, but bringing in a fair amount of money to support her as well, making him quite the catch in the eyes of Helena's family. Money and support aside, it was no secret to Helena's parents how they felt about one another and how happy Archie made her. Soon enough, there was an engagement announced and a wedding to plan.



Everything went off without a hitch, and soon the two were wed. Their wedding had been a simple affair consisting of just family and friends. The marriage to follow was a happy one, borne of love, total support and admiration for one another. Helena found herself pregnant at the ripe young age of twenty, after having been married for two years already. It was a joyous occasion, introducing their first child into the world. A boy, to be named Arthur û after Archie's grandfather. Five years after Arthur was brought into the world, yet another boy was born to Archie and Helena, to be named Clifford. There had been a fair gap between the first two children, that changed when Helena discovered she was pregnant with their third child. The first and only girl to be born into their family û Cora.



Having been the third born, Cora received significantly less attention than Arthur did, and could get away with a lot less as a child. Regardless, her childhood had been a great one. Both Helena and Archie loved all of their children with all of their hearts, and wanted nothing more than to provide the best for them. Growing up in a house full of boys û including a younger brother to be born three years her junior û Cora naturally picked up on some of their traits that perhaps a young lady shouldn't have. She rather enjoyed roughhousing with her brothers out in the yard, although she would often lose. Honestly, she had been quite energetic and sometimes devious, disregarding rules every so often and getting herself into a bit of mischief. Not to mention she was almost impossible to reason with as a child, very stubborn. Quite the troublemaker around the house, she was, giving her mother a run for her money. And Helena had though having a girl would prove easier than boys. Hah.



As Cora grew older, she never lost any of those personality traits û they simply matured. She became quite ambitious, a trait born of her stubborn nature as a child. But of course, she remained as fun-loving and energetic as ever, making finding friends quite easy when it was her turn to attend her first year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. She received her letter at the end of July, in the year 1877 - the year she turned eleven years old. It had been fairly rough the year before, having had to travel with her family after the wizarding population had been exiled from London. Both Art and Clif were already at school, and therefore did not have to go through what she and Theo went through û but luckily, they found a rather large place of their own in Hogsmeade to begin a new life, and everything worked out for the better. It came as quite a surprise to Cora's family members that she was sorted into Slytherin, given the stereotypes that often surrounded that house. She did not fit many of them, but there was one trait that separated her from the other houses û her strong ambition, and willingness to do whatever it took to turn her dreams into reality.



Cora made friends quickly, although not many within her own house. She was quite the enigma û a Slytherin of halfblood nature, who did not care about blood purity or family class and status. Cora could not have cared less though û whether or not she made friends in her own house, she was still happy to have the friends she did make. Her friends and acquaintances were more often than not other young women, purely due to her absolute mortification at speaking with the opposite sex. As fun-loving, friendly and good-natured as she was, she was also incredibly shy around those of the male gender, which would prove difficult later in life if she did not overcome it.



By the time all of the children had left the nest to head off to Hogwarts, Helena and Archibald had a rough time with the transition, but specifically Helena. Having had children around for so long, the sudden impact of having no one to care for was difficult. It was then that the two decided they should do something meaningful with their empty house and free time. Being very loving people who did nothing but care for the well-being of others, their large house was turned into a place of refuge for any children, young or older, who might be struggling in their own situations and need help getting back on their own two feet. The children of the family were not at all surprised to hear of this new development, given their mother's constant need to care and nurture. In fact, Cora was quite looking forward to meeting whomever might be staying in their house when she came back each year for the summer. Of course, it meant that the children would have to share rooms with whoever might need them, but Cora was fine with that û she shared rooms with plenty of other girls at Hogwarts, it would have been silly to be angry about sharing a room with one other girl while at home, if the situation called for it.



Cora has just recently graduated her sixth year, and is actually very excited about the summer and next school year to come. While she is absolutely terrified of any social interaction with someone of the male variety, she is hoping to overcome that obstacle some time this year. If anything, it would make her coming out ball next year just a bit easier to handle. Regardless, Cora is still as energetic and fun-loving as ever, and is looking forward to the future and what it holds for her come graduation.

Personality:

The first thing that people notice about Cora, is that she is almost always smiling. She has always been a very energetic and fun-loving young lady, choosing not to judge people based on blood or class. As far as Cora is concerned, everyone is their own person that one had to get to know before any opinions could be formed. Making friends has never been much of an issue for Cora, who prefers to find good in everyone. Even if she can't be best friends or even good friends with someone due to personality clash or any other reason, she will still find reason to smile and greet them in passing. Caring for people is in her nature, not unlike her mother, as is fierce loyalty to all of her friends. It helps that she has a great sense of humour, and can find it in almost every situation.


As energetic and excitable as she might be, there is one specific type of person she has trouble speaking with û men. Growing up in a house with three brothers, one might think that talking to men should be easy, however it is exactly the opposite. She can be herself around her brothers very easily, but as soon as they introduce one of their male friends, or if any male (except teachers, of course) at all chooses to begin a conversation with her, she blushes and becomes very quiet and uncomfortable. She tends to blush profusely in the company of men, and her pale complexion gives away her blushes very easily, only proving to embarrass her further. In Cora's head, her brothers aren't men, they are simply her brothers û people she has known her whole life and become comfortable around. This is very frustrating for her, as one could imagine, and she wants nothing more than to overcome it.


Growing up, Cora was very stubborn. She is still such now, but it is a trait that has evolved further, to include ambition and resourcefulness. She is a young woman who knows what she wants. Her goal is to, one day; find a husband with enough political power to be influential, so that she might use it for the greater good of society. Of course, she does not want to marry purely for personal gain û she does want to marry for love as well, but her criteria still holds strong. She will do anything in her power to make this possible, as well as any other dreams she, her friends or her family might have. She has found over the years that she can be very persuasive, which helped her weasel her way out of trouble when she was younger, often blaming things she might have done on her brothers; just as they did with her. In turn, she believes that trait will help her with her goals in the long run.
