Rowan — While it is said that "rowan gossips", that is not precisely true of Nettie. While she is friendly and social, she cares about others and has trouble repeating hurtful stories even when she knows for a fact they are true. Rowan is also prized for its protective properties and known for it's reluctance to turn to dark magic. As sweet and caring as Nettie is, and as concerned with healing, she is very unlikely to ever turn to dark magic.
Peacock Feather — This particular feather makes an ideal core for healing spells.
Ten and One Eighth Inches — As bright and bubbly as Nettie is, she is still reserved enough (and physically small enough!) that a fairly average length wand is appropriate for her.
Pliable — Nettie could be very easily described as compliant. While she has morals and a good heart, she is not one to go against what people in positions of power say unless they are very obviously abusing their position.

Appearance: At 4'11", Nettie is a particularly small young woman, although not much smaller than some of her sisters. She has a rather round face despite never having quite enough to eat growing up. She has big green eyes, wavy blond hair, and full lips. Her clothes are generally second or third hand, but she makes an effort to look well put together. She only wears her school robes during the week, and on the weekends she wears her two best dresses. Both are patched mended, but in fabric that at least matches so that Nettie looks respectable. Both are high necked and long sleeved with white cuffs and collars that Nettie works tirelessly to keep spotless. One dress is tan with tiny white flowers, and the other is a muted green and white gingham. Nettie is right handed.

History:

1868 — Yvonette Ivy Fawcett is the last girl born to Jenette Fawcett and her long-time lover, Peter Coldham, in Pevensey.

1870 — Tired of being the only non-magical member of a magical family, seventeen year old Roberta runs off; the next anyone hears from her, she has a muggle husband and has settled down with him in Westham.

1871 — Nettie is no longer the baby; she gains a younger brother named James-Frank. The toddler has never had a brother before, and the curiosity that comes with that is enough to keep her from being too upset about her position being usurped. Harriett goes off to Hogwarts.

1873 — Polly suddenly has to stop attending Hogwarts; Nettie is too young to really understand why, but her oldest half-sister does not stay long before heading off to work as a maid.

1874 — Patrick is born, completing the Fawcett family. Jemima goes off to Hogwarts.

1876 — Harriett is able to complete her O.W.L.s, but does not return to Hogwarts in the fall. Instead, she gets a job as a secretary.

1877 — Flora begins Hogwarts.

1879 — Jenette and Peter scrape together enough to get everything that Nettie needs for her first year at Hogwarts. While everything is second hand except for her wand, Nettie is not at all bothered and is quite happy to be sorted into Ravenclaw. Her classes are hard because she is not the best at reading anything particularly complex, but she manages to secure a tutor and is able to hang onto her scholarship past her first year.

1881 — The times comes for Nettie to choose her electives. Already fairly certain that she wants to be a Healer, the girl decides to take Arithmancy and Earth Magic.

1882 — James-Frank begins Hogwarts. On December 8, Harriett is killed by the Hogsmeade Slasher.

1883 — Nettie goes into her fifth year. She is somewhat troubled, as this year she has to decide whether or not to return for her sixth and seventh years. While her O.W.L. Scores will have some impact on this decision, the fact that Polly suddenly stops sending back money to help out the family in mid-July makes her wonder if her family might be better off if she was bringing home wages.

Sample Roleplay Post:

The diminutive blonde Ravenclaw named Yvonette Fawcett had not gone to the Fall Festival. Oh, she had gone up to Hogsmeade for the trip, but the idea of scraping together enough money for a ticket and trying to put together a costume was not something that she thought was really a good use of her time and limited funds.

Instead of going to join in the fun, Nettie had put on her green and white gingham dress and gone up to town for a break; she did, after all, appreciate the need to take a break from schoolwork. She had enough pocket money to get a nice cup of orange peel tea and a cranberry scone while she refreshed her school supplies. Then she had returned to Hogwarts, none the wiser that everything had gone mad while she was running errands and having tea.

While Nettie was not sure what had happened (and even the Daily Prophet article on the subject had been vague at best), she was certain that it was all quite alarming. There were students about that thought they were all sorts of characters, and some which seemed to have gone off the deep end completely.

By the time Halloween rolled around, Nettie was desperately wishing for the world to right itself. If it had not been for the necessity of eating, she would have avoided the Great Hall completely and likely have spent every moment not in class hiding in her dorm as well. As it was, she intended to eat quickly and get back to the relative sanity of her dorm.

Nettie straightened her school robes and took a deep breath before going in to dinner, hoping that none of the seemingly crazy students (or worse, professors!) would be bothered with her.
