    EVANGELINE ASPERHAND REBUTS ARTICLE
HER FATHER'S WORDS GIVE REASON TO DOUBT THE VALIDITY OF HER CLAIMS
    [Image: photo-eva.jpg]

    Dear Miss Ventus,
I want to straighten out a few things. I personally do not care about what this newspaper writes about me, but it hurts the reputation of both of my sisters, so I feel it is only proper to write the truth. So let me address your article point by point for you and your reader's convenience (because I do hope this letter will be printed out).

In reference to the two young men I was seen with at the ball, I do not know who the second boy was and that is the truth. I was asked to dance and it would be rude of me to say no. He was acting properly, there was nothing about him which would make me believe he was a slums resident. I am more inclined to believe he is not a resident of our lovely village of Hogsmeade. Nothing except for the dance happened between me and that mysterious young man. Dancing with someone is hardly inappropriate.

As for the kiss, your sources obviously hadn't heard that an engagement was established between myself and Mr. Grimstone. Our families agreed to that arrangement and we even have a blessing from Nicholas Flamel himself who happens to support my fiancee's career. If you put it in that light, I am sure it seems much less scandalous now.

His brother Anthony and I are not anything more than friends. In fact, I have not been with him alone at any time. We study together, as he has slightly better grades than I do and I can benefit from his companion. Upon learning that I am engaged to his brother, Anthony decided to keep me at a distance, because he did not want any suspicions of immoral behaviors. So seeing as I had not been with younger of the Grimstone's alone or I have not spoken to him in some time your conclusions are wrong.

My comments about corsets have been taken out of context. I said that a few years ago, when I truly was a rebel. I am far more mature now and I recently said that I thought that corsets are stupid and enslaving, but now I see how important they are. I advise you to check your sources, as they have outdated information. Also, just to calm you down, I ___________________________

assure you there is no need to worry about my virtue. It is protected by my chaperone who accompanies me AT ALL TIMES.

In regards to the young lady I was seen dueling: she insulted my family, my dear sisters and my dear friend. She was the first drawing out the wand, I was only protecting myself while Irina Baddock, a friend of mine, went to find a prefect who could sort this out. This young lady had told things that insulted my sisters and my family's honor and I had no choice but to defend it. I hardly think it is scandalous not letting anyone to speak lies about those dear to you. I think it is honorable.

When it comes to my plans after Hogwarts, I have secured a marriage with Mr Grimstone. We have plans about our future which will be fulfilled after I finish the school.

On the subject of my hair, yes, I did have it cut. I will send you pictures with this letter, as you don't seem to have any actual ones. It was an accident my chaperone's fault. She was using a charm to get rid of the gum that someone put in my hair. I can assure you she was fired because of it. I am as of now growing my hair and they almost reach my shoulders now. Also, I absolutely DENY the vicious rumor I do something with my hair color. I do not know who spreads them, but any reason of the color change is either the light or the sun. I had nothing to do with it.

I hope my letter will be published and will abolish those unfairly made points.

    Yours sincerely,

    Evangeline Asperhand

It is the stance of this paper that Miss Asperhand's rebuttal may or may not be factual. Her father, Mr. Fergus Asperhand, was reached for comment and said that he "would never promise any of his daughters to a halfblood born in the slums". Since her claims of a betrothal have so easily been proven to be false, the rest of the letter may be equally based on a young woman's foolish imaginings. The enclosed picture was published with the article. -- Editor

    AUROR SAVES YOUNG WOMAN'S LIFE!
MYSTERIOUS YOUNG WOMAN APPEARS SUDDENLY ON HIGH STREET
    [Image: philip-dp.png]

Late last evening, an un-chaperoned young woman was seen in harm's way of an approaching, thundering carriage. It has been rumored that the carriage had in fact been belonging to a certain Mr. Lawrence Littlefair whom just recently fired his coachman for failing to reign the horses to spare the life of a young woman. We have spoken to a few onlookers present during the scene and it was mentioned that the Auror was a certain young man whom saved the life of this young woman went by the name of Mr. Phillip Morrissey, 20.
While we are aware of the wealthy middle-class family of Morrissey, we are uncertain of this young woman which had been unexpectedly seen at so late in the evening -- especially without a chaperone present! Her attire had been nothing defined as day wear rather than formal. Her features were sharp and exotic; perhaps our society beauties' now have competition? There have been rumors that the young woman was a student up at the castle still! What is to be done about these rebellious young ladies? More importantly: Who is this young woman seen at the scene of the crime?
