June 8, 1884
Mathias had always been the type of man who enjoyed doing nothing with his life, even if it mean sitting around bored all day. He'd spent the last year of his life in mourning, and was currently contemplating getting back into socializing with the public. Before the death of his father, Mathias hadn't been too antisocial with his friends and even strangers, but losing the one person he could trust and loved more than anyone was really a hard blow for him to face. He didn't have any brothers, and though he did have a few cousins, he'd never been close with the Babineaux family.
Walking down High Street, Mathias looked to his left, watching as a crowd of women stood gossiping among themselves about the latest scandals, while a group of young boys playing hoops in the street. He'd been pressured by his mother to have children of his own to assure that the Beaumont family fortune would have somewhere to go if he were to suddenly pass, but that meant he would have to find a wife. Shaking his head, Mathias turned the corner and walked into a pub.
Since his wife and daughter's death on July 17, 1887, Mathias has not left the home and refuses to take visitors. Letters can be sent to him for contact, but there's no guaranteeing he'll write back. He's not eating or sleeping regularly and refuses to leave his son's presence most of the day.
